Ordered to conduct an assessment by the court. The amount of time he spent conducting an "evaluation" that has lifelong consequences amounted to a total of about 4 hours: one interview and one sheet of paper. No contact with other mental health professionals that had been involved, no review of documentation, no questions, no tests, or the myriad of other things a half-way competent evaluator would/should do. Half-@ssed, superficial garbage was the result. He justified his complete lack of effort to even attempt to meet his requirements by saying "they're only guidelines." It didn't stop him from presenting his lacking information and ignorant opinions as fact. Intentionally obtuse in court to protect his own incompetence. Keep this unethical farce away from your family.

Dr Theis should not be practicing. He has a huge ego and is intimidated by anyone that is intelligent. He has no problem lying under oath, and even changing his story to fit his agenda. It is really surprising to see someone who should be neutrally evaluating family situations to develop a strong bias even before the first meeting. Do not use him. He should be reviewed by the an ethics board and have his license revoked.

I would love to give less than 1 star because this man should not be practicing. He is as corrupt as they come and conveniently forgets important details and any good merit for whatever side does not have enough money to buy him off. He should not be in practice he should not be a PHD and unless you have $7,000-$9,000 to buy his testimony you will be out of luck and he will destroy your family.

Dr Theis is a sham! His final evaluation was a generic template that he copied and pasted our comments on. He spent little to no time with our daughter and never asked her what she wanted. He shouldn’t be allowed to work with children, his only interest is whose paying his ridiculous rate!!! If your attorney recommends him get a new attorney!!! $8600 for NOTHING!!!

Dr. Theis appeared uninterested in each session. He did not listen and did not repeat the information from the session back accurately, thus proving he was not listening. What he determined as normal parent / child behavior, the real therapist my child's doctor sent him to called emotional abuse. We went to him hoping to find a way to get the other house to see how their behavior was negatively impacting the child. Instead he rallied around them and excused all behavior. He went so far as to blame the stepmom for all the environment in the mother and step father's home. According to the child, he outright attacked the stepmom in his individual session. Had Dr. Theis paid attention, he would have known that the child is a stepmama's boy and he lost all credibility with the child in that moment. The child indicated he had considered hurting himself and Dr. Theis insisted that he not be allowed to attend sessions with a therapist. Thankfully, all 4 parents went with his actual doctor's… recommendation and had him attend therapy. There it was determined the issues with the other house environment were valid issues. The therapist worked with everyone and we were able to get him back to a happy child. Dr. Theis should be ashamed of himself for not helping the families that come to him. He very clearly does not care about the children and only about the paycheck. We were able to fix the situation on our own using other professionals with him actually working against us!

Read these reviews before you give this man anything! Proceed with caution as you share information about your child or children. DO NOT give him any audio messages. He will deliberately use it against you if he is working for the other side. He has no problem lying under oath, nor does he have a problem communicating illegally with other attorneys involved breaking his own code of ethics. He testifies that he is incapable of being biased. Another lie.. Read every review before you trust him w/anything!

This man does not do honest work. He can be biased and he will communicate with one side. Do not take your tests on paper or a scantron. He will manipulate them to make you look crazy if that is what he is being paid to do. He also has no problem lying under oath. He thinks highly of Stuart Greenberg, a custody evaluator who committed suicide because he was caught masterbating to video of women he recorded while using his office restroom.

The Dr has ZERO credibility! He was paid to "poke holes" into a judge appointed child evaluations. He claimed that it had "inconsistencies and flat out lies". The original evaluation report took 6 interviews to be completed. The Dr didn't interview me once or asked to view any of the evidence. How can anyone come up with a credible conclusion without meeting anybody, unless it's obviously biased or the Dr is saying he reads minds!
