Dr. Richard Doyle Thomas, MD

I had a severe herniated disc that went misdiagnosed for years by my pcp. I orginally seen Dr. Stanley who referred me to Dr. Thomas. I had my ALIF L4-L5 spinal fusion with bone graft. Dr. Thomas did such an amazing job. He came to check on me the day after surgery. To his surprise I was walking through the halls of St. Johns without a walker. I felt so much better after surgery. He greatly improved my life, I no longer have so much pain when walking or standing. It had gotten to the point my body was pulling itself to the right. My fusion has been successful, but with that said, YOU MUST FOLLOW THE POST OP RESTRICTIONS. Getting up and walking is the best thing. What I admire about him was he asked if I felt like I was ready to go back to work. I'm gonna be some what sad when my treatment is over and my spine is fully fused.

This doctor told me that he could fix my back, no problem and would get back with me with a surgery date. The surgery on my fractured vertebrae(s). He would use metal to fuse. I waited a month. I was told he was on vacation. Then he was back one week and went on another vacation. I did finally receive a phone call, thinking it was the date for surgery!! No, it was to make an appointment with a total different doctor at his same practice. I was told that he didn't think he had the expertise to do this surgery. Ohh my lord. I was referred to Doctor Drake. I went to the appointment with him only to be told my back bones were crumbling and told to go to Physical Therapy and get shots for 12 months!! I did my research on these doctors and was convinced by the information that they were professionals to be trusted! This is very far from the truth. They are not to be trusted. No one should go to PT with bones that are "crumbling"!!

A man who can't tell the truth. For example, that my fusion had failed & put me through painful physical therapy that I shouldn't have been doing with a non-union. Now I also have more problems than I had before seeing him & I've had 4 other orthopedic doctors explain that my spine never healed & I'm being held together by just the hardware which is not meant to support me forever. The bone never fused so its like a broken back & feels like one too. I'm in agony & this guy withheld the info from me for personal reasons I won't go into here. He is a selfish, dishonest, heartless man who will put his patient's in harms way if it profits him more. Thanks a lot Dr. Thomas for helping to ruin my life. Do u have any clue how it feels to be in severe, constant pain, can't sleep, can't lift milk without a struggle, can't do any of my favorite activities, can't have kids, can't work, can't even form new dreams or ambitions because of my disability & being so physically weak & exhausted &… totally broke because all my money goes to medical bills. U could have at least been honest with me so I could have had a chance at getting some kind of compensation fro what was done to me, but your a coward who only cares about making money off of the misery of others. I wish all u spine doctors would be forced to submit yourselves to at least a month of simulated pain & disability so u could get a tiny taste of how your patient's feel so u would care more. The pain we feel is unlike anything else & lasts forever for a lot of us & there's not even a quick end to our misery. We get to linger for life like this while being pushed into a pain clinic where we get treated like drug addicts just because we can't live without some relief. People like u could not endure a month like this even on the meds. we get because frankly the meds. barely touch our pain. I have no idea how a person can become so cold like u doctors get. It's actually frightening & too much like a criminal to me how u guys do not care if another human is in agony. Do u just wan't us to give up? I know a lot of us do because we can't tolerate a life sentence of pain & being treated like criminals & having to beg for the smallest amount of help to ease our pain. The least u could do is tell us the truth about our conditions but even that is too much for u. Well, thank goodness some drs do tell the truth & I'm able to get help from them. Whatever u do, don't go to the Tulsa Bone & Joint. It's a worthless money pit with washed up doctors trying to make a huge profit at any cost to u.

This man changed my life...I was in debilitating pain..After I woke from surgery I could already tell something was better. ..it's been 4 months basically pain free..dr. Thomas, and his staff have all shown concern of my condition, and have been very accommodating. ..it took me to years to decide to even have a consultation done, but after meeting the doc. It was a matter of minutes to decide surgery was my best option. .I have complete trust in Him and his staff. Thank you!
