Dr. Richard James Trongone, MD

When I lived in NYC I was a patient of Dr. Trongone (1995-2006). He delivered both my boys in 2001 and 2006. Unfortunately, I moved to upstate NY and had to find another OBGYN. Dr. Trongone (in my eyes) is amazing. He is kind, patient and very informative. He's a pretty good artist too. Many times in order to understand some medical terminology or even to explain what was happening in my body, he would draw pictures to help me understand. I can say that it's been over 10 years since I last saw Dr. Trongone & I haven't found another Dr. like him.

I wanted to give one star but I gave two because Dr Trongone did deliver my first son safely after an emergency c section. This office used to be much better but I think the doctors are too overworked and busy. I found out I was pregnant the second time and went for my 8 week ultrasound. I didn't like how the heartbeat sounded and voiced concern to the dr but he didn't seem too concerned. It turns out I miscarried a week later and didn't even know until 11 weeks. I started to spot brown blood and called the office at night. One of the doctors said everything should be okay but in my heart I knew it wasn't. I prepared my husband for the worse and was right. We were devastated. One of the drs was very comforting, and told me I should get a DnC but they couldn't schedule me until over a week later which was a very long time. I tried and tried to have it moved up and then had it moved up by a few days finally, but it didn't matter. I actively miscarried a few days after finding out about… the baby and wound up losing so much blood i had to go to the nearest hospital ER. I was scared and the experience was traumatic. I fainted twice and lost too much blood to receive pain medicine and was in excruciating pain from the strong contractions. Thankfully I had an emergency DnC done, but I just don't understand why I couldn't have my DnC done earlier to avoid this whole situation. Then after the surgery I called one of the drs because I was burning up and had flu like symptoms, scared I was septic and the dr didn't seem to really care. I changed practices because of all of this. I just felt like they didn't handle the situation well at all.

Dr Trongone delivered 2 of my children via C section. I've been both an OB and a GYN patient with him. He is caring and compassionate, never rushes you, answers all your questions thoroughly. Hard to find both great bedside manners and skilled surgeon in a doctor but he has it. He is highly respected by the nurses and staff at the hospital which really helps a lot during and after delivery.

Simply the best OB/GYN around. Delivered both my babies. Has incredible common sense, bedside manner and skill.

Dr. Trangone and Dr. Petrocelli are simply the best. Their bedside manner is unbeatable - I have the pleasure of them delivering my soon to be first born - I couldn’t be happier with the level of treatment I receive. I look forward to my appointments - the entire office/staff are gems! Thank you so much for being so amazing and helping this first time mom and as being first time parents keep calm :)

He's the best of the best!

Dr. Petrocelli and Dr. Trongone are gems! After a difficult first delivery with a different practice, I switched to this practice with my second and they exceeded my expectations. I cannot thank them enough for everything they have done! These doctors are THE best around and very well respected in the hospital as well!

So kind, professional and caring. I never feel rushed. The nurses and staff are great too. Love that they can accommodate evening appointments too.

Make sure you get an ultrasound before he does anything invasive.

I was recommended to Dr T by our pediatrician and after doing some research and seeing all the positive reviews, I was sure he was the ob for me. Dr T and Dr P (new obgyn who joined his practice) are both two of the most professional and approachable drs i've ever seen. I saw mostly Dr P, who would always sit there patiently with me and answer all my questions and I always went there with a long list. Towards the third trimester, I decided to have a natural birth, which they both successfully supported me into reaching my goal. I cannot thank them enough for providing me with the great prenatal and postnatal care. I would highly recommend this practice. Be forewarned, if you are going for gyno visit then you might have to wait a bit for an appointment but it is worth it!
