The office stuff is way terrible than you can imagine. The office told me the prescription will be there before a week from my surgery. I waited for the day gets closer than go to the pharmacy. When I go the pharmacy, they don’t have my prescription at all and some of them got recall. When I call office, they don’t admit that they didn’t send out prescription yet. They just say they will send “now”. And they have so many excuses. No apologize at all. Plus, they blame you about it!!!! They says some of recall medicines are depends on the store which totally doesn’t make sense at all. Recall is recall for all things, can’t be only selected store. I should start from next day for preparing for my surgery, they haven’t send anything yet. Dr. Whelan is great doctor, warm, good heart but his office people are really terrible.

I live in PA and travel to NY to see Dr Whelan for my care. He is brilliant compassionate and in my opinion, the absolute best in his specialty. I am thankful that my sister recommended him to me! His staff is professional and a pleasure to work with. Their attention to detail and communication is exceptional.

I waited over an hour for my appointment. After, he said he would bring out to the waiting room some material for me. Never showed up!?

Dr. Whelan is an excellent doctor, genuinely cares, and always in a good mood. He checked on my mom daily even on weekends and did not discharged her until he felt it was safe to do so. His team is very professional and respectful. The surgery has no conplications and less than 41/2 hours. My mom was well taken care of at Mount Sinai West. So grateful for experienced doctors like him.

The doctor was very nice to me, but his assistant made an unprovoked nasty comment. He sent me home, saying my condition was not severe enough for surgery. I need him now, but hesitate to go back to him, because of his inability to control his employee. It leads me to feel that he may have difficulty conducting his surgeries.

When I came out of the anesthetic, I asked how my colonoscopy had gone. "We only went halfway," Whelan said. Why? "We ran out of tube," he replied. And then he left. I never saw him or heard from him again except when he sent the bill. He provided no results, no consultation. A disaster.

Excellent Surgeon with phenomenon all bedside manner. Spends time to explain options, procedures and expectations.

He is a very skilled surgeon with excellent bedside manner. Visited my mother twice a day after her surgery, and even on Easter Sunday.

Dr. Whelan saved my husband's life. We will never forget the care, patience, and professionalism he showed us. From the moment we stepped into his office, we felt like we packed our troubles up and he took them away. He was truly heaven sent.
