Dr. Richard Allan Zell, MD

I saw Dr Zell after several ankle sprains and having an unstable ankle. He explained test results and options, including PT first. When surgery was necessary, he explained everything and addressed all of my questions. The surgery went well and he monitored my healing with frequent post op visits. He was always kind and made sure I understood everything. He and the staff at his Bel Air office took great care of me.

Dr. Richard was extremely professional, very concerned On treating my ankle.

No follow up and he just did not care

After a bad fall down my basement steps, I was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, and diagnosed with a complex broken ankle in my right foot and a dislocated joint in my left foot. The orthopedic surgeon on call that day was Dr. Richard Zell. Shortly after admission, Dr. Zell was in my room explaining the severity of my injury, the necessary surgical procedure and the therapy during the recovery. Dr. Zell had scheduled surgeries the next day but returned to the hospital in the evening to perform the surgery on my ankle. Post-op visitations and continued support from Dr. Zell, both in the hospital and in his office, have been extremely helpful/vital to my recovery. The knowledge, skills and compassion demonstrated by Dr. Zell are certainly a TRIBUTE to the medical profession.

I fell on my ankle and broke it two ways. I was referred to Dr. Zell and met him two days later. The surgery was for days later. Dr. Zell is what doctors should be. He is kind, emphatic, and extremely professional. The day after the surgery he personally called my cell phone and asked how I was. In the five or six visits after the surgery, he remained exactly as he was the day I met him. He doesn't pop in the room and try to shovel you out like cattle. If you've had a doctor with poor bedside manner you know the feeling. He sits down with you, answers all you have to ask, and lingers in case you come up with something else making sure you're satisfied. I highly recommend him through and through.
