Great Dr. Restored my life.

First off this man claimed to be a Vietnam Veteran Combat Medic, but didn't know basic military infrastructure. I mention this because this was only a sign of things to come on this crazy roller coaster with this dr???. I came here because my company recommended API and i was taking about 20 5mg vicodins /per month for a lower leg amputation. When i meet this guy he loads me down with an insane amount of drugs and when i deny them because they made me sick, he says i am in denial. I got off the meds 3 months later after switching to high dosage Lyrica. This guy is a certified nut job.

Finally, I found a Doctor who cares and took the time to listen to me. I was leary when my Doctor said he wanted to refer me to "one more doctor". He told me that Dr. Beach and his staff were very helpful and would treat me with respect. THAT WAS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!

I WAS REALLY SURPRISED BY THE COMMENTS I READ ON THIS SITE ABOUT DR. BEACH AND THE CHRONIC PAIN PROGRAM AT COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CONSULTANTS AT THE RENOWNED ANDREWS INSTITUTE IN GULF BREEZE, FLORIDA.I UNDERSTAND THAT DR. BEACH HAD BEEN MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF A SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT FACILITY IN NAVARRE, FL PRIOR TO COMING TO THE ANDREWS CLINIC AND WHAT THE PATIENTS ABOVE SEEMED TO EXPERIENCE WAS THE COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THAT PLACE AND THEIR TREATMENT QUALITY. THE PEOPLE I TALKED TO THAT WENT TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT THERE FELT THE BIOGGEST EMPHASIS WAS ON THE PATIENT CENSUS (THE INSURANCE AND MONEY) RATHER THAN THE PATIENT THEMSELVES.ALTHOUGH DR. BEACH WOULD NOT SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THAT TREATMENT CENTER (I THINK HE IS TOO MUCH A PROFESSIONAL THAT WOULD NOT OPENLY BAD-MOUTH ANOTHER PROFESSIONAL OR PLACE) WHEN I WAS IN HIS CHRONIC PAIN TRACK (WHICH BY THE WAY WAS ONLY 3 DAYS A WEEK FOR THE PAIN PROGRAM) AQ PATIENT IN MY GROUP ASKED HIM WHY HE LEFT 12 OAKS(THE SUB ABUSE PLACE) HE… SAID ONLY THAT HE FELT THE NEW CORPATION THAT BOUGHT THE TREATMENT CENTER WAS NOT GIVING HIM THE STAFF OR RESOURCES HE NEEDED TO DO GOOD CHRONIC PAIN MANAGEMENT AND THEIR MAIN FOCUS WAS ON ADDICTION TREATMENT WHICH WAS THEIR MAIN GOAL AND AS THE PATIENT NUMBERS GREW LESS WAS BEING DONE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE PAIN PATIENTS. WHEN THEY BBEGAN PUTTING DR. BEACH'S PAIN PEOPLE IN THE GROUPS AND ASSIGNING AN ADDICTION COUNSELLO9R TO THEM, HE RESIGNED AND CHANGED SPECIALTIES TO ONLY CHRONIC PAIN AND OPENED OFFICE AT ANDREWS CLINIC.ITS REALLY TOO BAD THE PATIENTS ABOVE HAD SUCH AN EXPERIENCE. IT ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE THEY WENT TO A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DOCTOR THAN THE ONE I SAW. DR. BEACH GAVE ME MY LIFE BACK.I MHAD BEEN TO ALMOST 20-- YES 20-- DIFFERENT PAIN "TREATMENT" PLACES THRU OUT THGE COUNTRY FOR THE PAST TWENTY YEARS BEFORE I SAW DR. BEACH. I WOULD GO IN TO EACH NEW PLACE WITH HIGH HOPES THAT THEY WERE GOING TO "CURE" ME AND GET ME ON THE RIGHT MEDICINES SO I COULD BE MORE COMFORTABLE AND ENJOY LIFE AGAIN. EACH TIME I WOULD LEAVE THE TREATMENT FACILITY WITH WHAT SEEMED EVEN MORE PILLS THAN BEFORE AND STILL HURTING ALL MTHE TIME AND TOTALLY MISERABLE. WHEN I STARTED TALKING ABOUT SU8ICIDE TO MY PARENTS, THEY FOUND OUT ABOUT DR. BREACH'S PROGRAM AND TOOK ME TO SEE HIM.I DSID HAVE TO WAIT FOR A LONG TIME TO SEE HIM IN HIS WAITING ROOM (30+ MINUTES) BUT IT WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT.WHEN MY DAD TOLD HIS RECEPTIONIST THAT I WAS RUNNING OUT OF MEDS AND GOING INTO WITHDRAWAL THEY MADE ME AN IMMEDIATE APPT-- I THINK LATER THAT SAME DAY OR EARLY THE NEXT.WHEN I DID SEE DR. BEACH AFTER BEING SEEN FIRST BY HIS ASSISTANT AND CERTIFIED COUNSELLOR TO GET SOME OF MY VERY LONG MEDICAL HISTORY, HE TOOK OVER TW0 HOURS WITH ME AND THEN SPOKE WITH ME AND MY PARENTS ABOUT HIS PROGRAM.I WAS AT FIRST KIND OF ANGRY WHEN HE TALKED SO BLUNTLY TO ME AND THEN MY PARENTS (WITH MY PERMISSION). HE CAN BE VERY BLUNT AT TIMES BUT I KNEW AND THE OTHERS IN MY GROUP KNEW HE WAS DOIND IT BECAUSE HE CARED AND WANTED US TO GET BETTER. HE WOULD TELL US IN HIS LECTURES THAT THIS PROGRAM WAS NOT ABOUT HIM AND WETHER WE LIKED HIM OR NOT-- BUT ABOUT US AND US GETTING TOLD WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO GET US BETTER AND NOT ABOUT LIKING HIM OR NOT.AFTER BEING SHOT AT A REALITVELY YOUNG AGE AND BEING CONFINED TO A WHEELCHAIR FOR 20 YEARS, HE WAS THE FIRST TO TELL ME IT WAS TIME TO "GET OVER IT" AND QUIT FEELING SORRY FOR MYSELF AND BEING A VICTIM OVERE AND OVER.HE SAID IT WAS TIME TO GET OFF MY BUTT--BOTH LITERALLY AND FIGUREATELY-- AND START TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY OWN WELLNESS.IT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR AT THE TIME, BUT IT WAS WHAT I NEEDED TO HEAR.. IT WAS TIME TO GET OFF ALL THE SHORT-ACTING PAIN PILLS AND BEGIN VIGOROUS AND LIFE-LONG 'FUNCTIONAL RESTORATION'.LATER IN THE PROGRAM AFTER A FAMILY LECTURE BY DR. BEACH MY MOTHER WITH TEARS IN HER EYES TOLD HIM 'THAHK YOU' FOR GIVING HER BACK HER SON AND FOR BEING THE FIRST DOCTOR IN 20 YEARS TO "TELL IT LIKE IT WAS" AND BE STRAIGHT WITH ME.LIKE ME, AND FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO GET WELL AND NOT STAY STUCK IN ALL THE "PAYOFFS" FOR STAYING SICK AND I N PAIN, DR. BEACH'S PROGRAM REALLY WORKS. IT WAS NOT ALWAYS EASY BUT WE ALL FELT THE STAFF AND DR. BEACH TO BE COMPASSIONATE AND CARING WITHOUT BEING ENABLING AND COMPLACENT.MY GROUP MUST NOT BE THE ONLY ONES THAT SAW IT TOTALLY DIFFERENT BECASE DR. BEACH HAS BEEN ASKED BY THE MILITARY AND OTHER HOSPITALS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY TO SET-UP HIS PROGRAM FOR THEM. HE HAS ALSO BEEN ASKED TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT HIS PROGRAM WITH MANY OF US AS PRIOR PATIENTS DOING TESTIMONIALS FOR HIM.AS FOR THE MONEY THING, THEY NEVER ASKED ME ANYHTING AND JUST HOPED THE WORKERS COMP MIGHT PAY. I DIDNT KNOW FOR A LONG TIME LATER THAT THEY DID NOT PAY VERY MUCH AT ALL AFTER MY DETOX BUT I CONTINUED TO BE TREATED WITHOUT ANY MENTION OF MONEY.HOWEVER, I WAS EXPECTED TO DO MY PART IN MY OWN RECOVERY. IT WAS CLEAR FROM THE START THATIF WE DID NOT GO TO FUNCTIONAL RESTORATION (LIKED ADVANCED P.T.) AND ATTEND ALL GROUPS AND OTHER INSIGHT-ORIENTED THERAPY THAT DR BEACH WOULD NOT CONTINUE TO WRITE OUR PRESCRIPTIONS. HE SAID HE WOULD NOT BECOME JUST YET ANOTHER ONE OF OUR LONG LIST OF PAIN DOCS THAT JUST WROTE FOR PILLS WITHOUT EXPECTING AND HOLDING US ACCOUNTABLE FOR OUR OWN HEALTH AND RECOVERY.

I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. They lure you in with so many promises and once they know your insurance will pay then that seems to be the end of the concern and care for the individual patient. After completing 6 weeks of five day a week sessions, I got a new job and wanted to get back to a normal, routine life. When I told them I would not be able to come to the every Tuesday, 9am, 3hr group I was told they would no longer see me as a patient and was given 7 days of medication. They would not even help me with a referral and after 2 months and more than 15 calls requesting my records, I finally got a return phone call. They did send some kind of record summary to another doctor who in turn said he would not help me either. I can only imagine what the summary said about me for another doctor to not even talk to me and hear my story and problems. I am highly disappointed and hurt by the treatment of this doctor and his staff and would warn anyone to read more into… these reviews before signing his agreement. I wish I had.

I am a pain patient and was treated like an addict. The "Group" therapy is a joke. The office staff is a joke, it seems that the only one who stays with him is the office manager. When they asked that we pay cash for coming to a group therapy session and then said that if you didn't go you couldn't get your medicine, something is wrong. I can't get my records from them and I know another person who has been trying for weeks. Beware of this office. They want your insurance for the beginning of treatment and then just don't care. I hadn't even seen Dr. Beach for months. I guess his staff can just call in the drugs whenever they want and if they don't like you watch out.
