Dr. Rhoten is a very caring and skilled physician. After a dire and serious recommendation for surgery by a Bakersfield surgeon, Dr. Rhoten presented a common sense approach to my cervical issues. He was also highly recommended by a friend, and I was not disappointed.

A Thoughtful Surgeon with a wonderful sense of humor. If he leaves his practice it will be a tremendous loss for Cedars.

I came across this webpage to find Dr. Rhoten has a 2.5 rating out of 4?! Are you kidding me?!? Here's all anyone needs to know about Dr. Rhoten. On separate occasions, my wife and I were told we needed surgery by other doctors. My back. Her neck. We went to Dr. Rhoten and he told us both we did NOT need surgery. Think about that. A surgeon, a man who makes his living operating told both of us that our issues would eventually work themselves out. And they did. We're both fine. I recommend Dr. Rhoten to everyone! Run, don't walk, to see Dr. Rhoten!

Difficult to get in touch with. Staff was rude and difficult to make contact with. The initial visit wasn't bad, seemed nice and knowledgable. After my surgery he saw me for 5 minute appointments, gave me pain medication and told me to keep coming back every 6 months. Kept me on the meds for 3 years and still no better and looking at another surgery for the same problem.

1)PLACED '6' SCREWS IN MY SPINE, MADE INCISION ON LEFT SIDE SUPPOSE TO PUT SPACERS IN FRONT OF SPINE. 2) TOOK '6' SCREWS OUT, REPLACED WITH '8' SCREWS3) TOOK ALL SCREWS OUT, SAID "YOUR BACK IS HEALED"!!!!!!!!IT WAS NOT, WITH ALL SCREWS REMOVED, MY SPINE WOULD NOT HOLD ME UP. I BENT OVER AS IF I WAS LOOKING FOR CHANGE ON THE FLOOR.4)THEN PUT '20' SCREWS & RODS IN. ANOTHER INCISION ON LEFT SIDE AND REMOVED A RIB. "DON'T KNOW WHY" !!!NOW HAS ME SCREWED ON A ANGLE BENDING FORWARD. NOT UP RIGHT.5) '3' OTHER SPINE SURGEONS HAVE TOLD ME:"YOU WILL NEVER BE UPRIGHT, DR RHOTEN HAS YOU SCREWED ON ANGLE DOWN, NOT STRAIGHT". Waited 10 mins. To see him, office was very busy (means a good DR), but WELL worth the wait. Was attentive, compassionate and caring. Talked me OUT of surgery for a back problem, unlike two other Cedars Drs who wanted to cut right away.

This neurosurgeon is the best in BH!!!
