Dr. Robert Wells Baylis, MD

I just want to thank Dr. Baylis for continuing to help keep my left knee working and walking! His calming demeanor, great attitude and medical expertise make him #1 in my book! I have received some very tough knee injections which he makes so easy to tolerate . Everyone in the office works hard and are very kind and helpful ! If I have to go to a Doctors offiice , one thing I can say is that I always have a good experience when I come here! I highly recommend Dr. Baylis!

I highly recommend Dr Baylis. He’s a phenomenal surgeon with a personal touch. His staff are friendly and helpful. If I need more work done(I’m active, it’ll happen), I’ll go back to him in a heartbeat.

I had an acute injury to my lower back with severe pain and numbness to my left leg at work. I had been injured in the same area 6 years prior to the same area with a bulge and nerve impingement diagnosis. I had spinal epidurals in the past and begged him for one. Workman’s comp wanted physical therapy and narcotics. I begged him to give me an epidural and he offered me more narcotic medicine instead of referring me to pain management even though epidurals had been very effective getting me out of pain quickly. After I was hospitalized and given an epidural in the hospital I scheduled an appointment through workman’s comp and was verified at the office. I went into the office with the wife of a very well known surgeon who was my friend. When I checked in they told me I canceled my appointment. I told the receptionist I never canceled my appointment. They argued with me over it and after I told them to give me verification that they confirmed it was me they couldn’t and told me to they… would see me. After waiting 3 hours after the appointment time they brought me back into the room. He was incredibly rude and ran out of the office after he learned who my friend was married to after his behavior. I have heard many other people having problems with him under workman’s comp. The insurance company is comes 1st and will do the cheapest treatment as possible even if it’s not the proper treatment to get the patient out of pain without keeping them on addictive pain medication. Beware!!!!

Dr Baylis works based on the wishes of workman comp. He received my MRI and agreed with the results. Gave me a shot and prescribed medicine for the pain. When he submits his findings to your workers comp agent if they don't like his findings he changes them. All of a sudden he doesn't agree with the MRI anymore, he changes your paperwork to satisfy the insurance company SEDWICK which I am sure are threatening to take away the patients they assign to him. I am upset to know that the patience are not the concern anymore but the concern is of the insurance companies. I was sent back to work with a swollen knee full of fluid and an unbelievable amount of pain. He works for the insurance companies. If its in your control do not go to see him you will not be the priority.

I was experiencing hip pain. Went to another doctor in Plantation who told me to stop lifing and running. I had explained that I am an athlete, that I had a contest to prepare for. That doctor did not take the time. Dr. Baylis spent time with me, helping me work around my pain. Showed me the stretches I should be doing and prescribed my meds. A week later I was out and moderately running.

Baylis has poor bedside manner. In a hurry. Arrogant. Does not like to be questioned. As a degreed, licensed healthcare professional myself, I would never treat my patients in the same manner as he treated me. I serve my patients, not the other way around. Arrogance is a very poor substitute for compassion. He was done with me in less than 5 minutes, with his conclusion based solely on an x-ray, whereupon I had to prompt him to actually examine me. Staff is cold and indifferent. He wouldn't even address me by name, because I am sure he only looked at the illness, not the person I am. He has clearly forgotten who pays his bills.

He is very professional and genuinely cares.
