Dr. Robert Alan Black, MD

On April 17, 2026, while admitted at Morton Plant Hospital, Dr. Robert Black provided one of the two worst patient experiences in my 62 years. Rather than addressing my AFIB, low heart rate, confusion, and chest tightness, he focused solely on questioning why I chose Morton Plant over Northside. He offered no discussion of my condition, no treatment or advice, and his documentation was inaccurate. He instructed me to return to Northside, stating I was admitted mainly for risk and liability reasons. I was readmitted the following day for further testing. Dr. Black’s approach was unprofessional and unhelpful.

Visited Dr Black for shortness of breath, severe edema, rapid weight gain. Although I emphasized that I had gained twenty pounds in two weeks, he was not moved. If you are actually sick, recommend you visit a physician that pays attention. Failed to even take an EKG. Consulted another cardiologist, and was immediately hospitalized for New York Stage 3 heart failure. Dr Black failed to take an EKG and was not prepared for visit. He hurriedly reviews your medical record while you sit there. In fact his office failed twice to follow up on important issues.

I was referred to Dr, Black by my primary doctor and very happy with him and his office staff. He is very thorough and kind. If your looking for the best then Dr, Black is the one to call.

Dr. Black is a great cardiologist. Staff is great also.

My mom has been Dr.Black patient for about 10 years and I have been Dr.Black patient for about 4 years .I can’t say enough good about Dr .Black .English is not my mom first language and dr .Black took lots of time to explain everything in details to me and my Mom pre and post procedure details etc . Had a cardiac catheterization and a nerve was damaged in my arm. I'm scheduled for open heart surgery With severe pain and a rising blood pressure of 180/ 117, I tried to get in touch with my doctor but it was the weekend so that I had to reach out to the doctor on call who was Doctor Black. After several calls and an hour and a half later, he told me that he had 50 patients to do rounds on and he didn't have time to look up my chart to make sure I wasn't drug shopping. I wound up calling a friend to take me to the emergency room where they scanned my arm to make sure there were no problems with the artery in my arm where the catheter was inserted. With a Blood Pressure of 160/115, I was given a prescription for enough pain meds to hold me over until my appointment with my cardiologist which was only 2 days away. Dr. Black was compromising my already sick heart and ignoring the possibility of a stroke with the high blood pressure caused by the pain. He was too lazy to look up my… chart, he is arrogant and self-serving and does not deserve to have a license to practice medicine.

Doesnt listen, doesnt care. Overrides patient concerns, doesnt look deeper for any possible underlying issues, blows off major issues

This guy is completely rude and full of himself. Doesn't listen to the patient and even has set ringtones "the idiot is calling" when baycare hospital/ nurses call him. Lack of respect

This doctor is the best example I can give you as to what a doctor should not be. Arrogant, a complete disaster on bedside manners, distant to the point it is insulting, irritating, and totally unacceptable.

Dr Robert Black is my #1 fan. He takes interest and care of me like I was his own mother. He has been a huge encouragement in my weight lose journey of losing 265 lbs. I thank God for him!
