Dr. Robert Kelley Burlingame, MD

What a great Doctor. He took time to review my history and really listened. Highly recommend especially for those who have felt misunderstood by their general practitioner. Location is easily accessible and office staff is kind and easy to speak to. Thank you Dr. Burlingame!

Misdiagnosis. Pill Pusher, even after telling him you have issues with certain classes of medications. I was even advised by other medical providers to find a new Dr after seeing what he diagnosed me with, all stating I CLEARLY did NOT have the condition he “labeled” me with.

I see a psychotherapist regularly and the primary reason I see Dr. Burlingame is for medication management. I have been seeing him for about 5 years. He is polite, professional and seems genuinely interested in me and my progress. He has been willing to work though some side effect issues with me. I have not rated Dr. Burlingame in the "accurate diagnosis", or "bedside manner" categories, as they don't seem to apply to a consulting psychiatrist.,

He never did anything but push drugs like he was living off kick backs from some prescription company. Then he cancelled my appointment when my meds were out refusing to give me two days worth of meds to get me to my rescheduled appointment. His receptionist was rude and he threatened me he would stop prescribing my meds making me find another dr last minute to replace him. I went to my regular dr and told him what happened and he has taken care of me since that horrible experience. How can idiots like this be allowed to treat people in need? If you need help look else where.

Sits there whining about his life instead of helping

I've been to a lot of therapists and psychiatrists, he is one of the best ones I have ever had. He's understanding and funny. He figures the patient out quite quickly. I wouldn't want to go to anyone else.

He is very approachable and encourages you to help define the help that you need.

After going to several family doctors for my anxiety problems with no good results, I decided to step it up and search for a psychiatrist. Unfortunately I found Dr. Burlingame. For starters, he is probably 30 years older than this photo online. He is VERY pretentious, not a good listener, and I found he could care less as to what I had to say and had very little emotion. Every session would begin with him examining my chart for 10 minutes in silence, which was very awkward. This should be done prior to the appt. or another time in general. He put me through a 6-8 month roller coaster ride on different SSRI drugs after I made it perfectly clear to him at my first session that SSRI's do not agree with me and make my anxiety much worse. I was desperate at this point for some relief from my insomnia and terrible anxiety, so I tried to stick it out and thought things would improve. They did not, they only got worse. Each different drug was worse than the previous, and I ended up giving up… and trying to find a different solution. I believe doctors think you can function as a normal human being with no sleep, hardly eating, and anxiety so bad you can barely walk out the door. They say "just wait it out, the drugs will eventually work", they obviously have never tried these drugs. If they did, they would understand their awful side effects and perhaps would think twice about handing them out like candy to their next patient. I have since found a new family doctor and have the correct drug combination, and am feeling back to normal.

Dr. Burlingame and Denise have always been helpful, prompt and caring. Have struggled quite awhile to combat Depression and Anxiety. He has been patient and has a tremendous knowledge of psychiatric medications. He is interested in client's input. Finally, I am better than I have been in years. Always prompt with prescription refills.

Generally medications only, which did help me but almost no other treatment. He's not a counselor and has very little personal warmth. There was a different receptionist (only other person in his office) just about every time I was there. Office is in a very depressing building also.
