Dr. Robert Michael Chang, MD

I had a very complex problem & Dr. Chang spent necessary time to accurately diagnose & treat.

He did not do a good job of listening to my concerns and dismissed them right away. We wanted to jump straight to an endometrial biopsy without even doing a pap when a pap at another office did not show any signs of cancer. He also did not do any blood work before scheduling the biopsy. His diagnosis was right but he did not want to do any background testing before putting me through the biopsy. His treatment choice was putting me on birth control, which I have a high family history of blood clots and stroke and when asked he said it was not a concern that birth control does not have a risk. I will not go back to him.

Dr. Chang is the most caring and gentle Dr. that I have ever visited.

Dr. Chang was not proactive while I was under his care. He failed to diagnose an ectopic pregnancy despite my repeated requests for a sonogram to rule out ectopic. Only after my husband and I came into the office and insisted on a sonogram did he comply with the request. Five minutes later on the ultrasound table, I was told by the tech that I indeed had an obvious ectopic pregnancy and internal bleeding, at which time we were instructed to go to the hospital for emergency surgery - which resulted in loss of my left tube. Even post surgery, Dr. Chang could not keep my medical history straight - he came into the exam room and asked me if this was my first pregnancy loss - it was my third and this was all well documented (or should have been) in my chart. I would not recommend Dr. Chang due to negligence.

Have been with Dr. Chang for 6 yrs. He and his staff are amazing. Sometimes the wait time isn't something to write home about, but the Dr. and his staff have always been very kind and pleasant to be around.

Dr. Chang is very knowledgeable and very clinical. I prefer a Dr. that is knowledgable and has a good bedside manner. He doesn't seem to be sensitive to women's emotional challenges around reproductive concerns but more centrally focused on the clinical aspects of the health issue. Refering to removal of my ovaries as castration is insensitive to me as I was struggling with having this done. Knowledgeable but seems limited to the medical aspects and not other issues and concerns common to women.

He didn't believe a Uterine fibroid could cause pain. He recommended surgery to look for endometriosis. Surgery found nothing else wrong. Still didn't believe the fibroid would cause this kind of pain. Agreed upon treatment path, when call back in for refills, it was like conversations never happened. After 4 months he still didn't believe there was pain caused by the fibroid. Made us very scared that the myomectomy would result in loss of uterus. Too scared to have surgery but wouldn't say if the tumor was blocking conception. He really had no understanding of how scared the possibility of not having children can be on people. Until one afternoon when we called in for a refill, the nurse told us to go to the emergency room if the pain was that bad. This really is indicative of everything that is wrong wtih the health care system. I'd have to say to anybody being told to have surgery, get a second opinion before you get cut open in any way. We went and saw Dr. Daniel… Stewart who understood and made us feel comfortable with surgery to remove. Now the tumor and pain are gone, now I have hopes of having a child again.

I went to see Dr Chang after I had a poor experience with my first OBGYN. He was excellent! He took time to answer all my questions, and really made me feel comfortable. I really couldn't ask for me. This office staff was always nice, and helped when I called, and when I needed help in the office. I really can't say enough good things about this doctor / group.
