Dr. Robert Charles Cohenour, MD

Not sure about the other review comments. The first sounds like he had a high co-pay for insurance and not a very clear understanding of his condition. I have been seeing Dr. Cohenhour for over 2 and half years (2 seizures, first one Oct. 12', second Feb.15'). Within that time I've had over 12 appointments and 2 EEG's, I've owed only my co-pay of $25. He has multiple offices where you can make appointments (Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Northridge, Glendale). He's followed up with me on weekends and after hours in the evening. He gives his patients his personal cell phone in case of emergencies. He is what I consider "old school" care. As far as diagnosis, it was only after me second seizure that I was put on the anti-seizure medication "Keppra." Going back to the first review, Keppra is an extremely powerful narcotic that should be taken responsibly and with caution. Most individuals who are prescribed this will usually be on it for 1-3 years. Any responsible physician WILL NOT… allow you to stop taking it without regular visits, I would think that a physician allowing you to be removed from a heavy narcotic via phone would actually be concerning!!!....and would make them liable if anything was to happen to you, Keppra withdrawal can cause seizures. Dr. Cohenhour is beyond knowledgable in his field and has manners that make you feel very comfortable when navigating down an unknown road. Once you have a seizure you'll always have a higher risk at having another one. This condition has changed my life, but I have put my faith and trust in Dr. Cohenhour's guidance and have not regretted it yet!

After spending well over $500 for a few visits to Dr. Robert Cohenour Md including an EEG to confirm I don't have epilepsy, then being put on Keppra prescription for 3 years, I have been seizure free, YAY! So when I try to call Dr. Robert Cohenour Md to share the wonderful news and let him know I am tapering down the Keppra prescription slowly, he refuses to speak with me over the phone. His assistant offered me a follow up consultation visit for a whopping $90. I don't need to SEE Dr. Robert Cohenour Md to inform him I have not had seizures in 3 years, there is nothing the Dr. can do for me now, since my symptoms are gone. From the first time I met Dr. Robert Cohenour Md I felt he's just interested in making money to tap my my knee's and elbows to make sure my body responds correctly, as if that determines who has epilepsy! I've had much more thorough Dr's exam/test my body for far less money. I feel ripped off by Dr. Robert Cohenour Md and the fact that he won't even call me… back to give me just 2 minutes to talk about the best way to taper off Keppra is just ridiculous. The entire western medical mafia establishment is a sickness in our healthcare and society. I hope no one has to go through what I've been through, and at least avoids Dr. Robert Cohenour Md if they can find a more reasonable and humane Dr. If Dr. Robert Cohenour Md actually calls me back someday, I'll revise this review. Don't know how else to get his attention=(

Communication is definitely LACKING in this office. Dr. often takes personal calls during appointments and appointments are long and unfocused. Dr. does not follow up in a timely manner and nurse NEVER calls back when she says she will.
