10 years ago my husband had a redo vasectomy reversal with Dr. Finnerty. A previous reversal attempt 4 years earlier before that with another specialist had scarred over immediately after surgery. 9 months after the redo reversal with Dr. Finnerty, we found out we were expecting our son. He turns 9 in just a few months. We will forever be grateful to God, Dr. Finnerty and his kindness & expertise, and his amazing staff.

Avoid this Doctor. I saw Dr Finnerty to consult about a vasectomy reversal in 2016. It was a very expensive mistake. I flew in from overseas to see him because I liked what he had to say by phone, and found some favorable comments online. The trouble started shortly after booking flights, and scheduling my surgery. Finnerty left on "extended medical leave". The next problem was his office staff. They where often rude, always incompetent, and unprofessional. Basic email communication is beyond them, insisting on me sending faxes of records. Many calls and letters went unanswered for weeks before a curt, rude, and patronizing response. I realize Finerty runs a very no-frills clinic in a marginal, blighted neighborhood of Tacoma, but his staff can barely function in the modern world. They where totally not up to the task of arranging complex medical procedures. When I finally saw Finnerty, he was just returning from his â??extended medical leaveâ?? and appeared dazed and… confused in his office. He had read NONE of the extensive medical history I sent his office, had no idea who I was, and was completely unaware of what his staff had been up to. After staring at the office notes for 20 minutes, he mumbled apology about being â??out of itâ?? for a long time. During the meeting, I lost all confidence in his ability to perform a complex surgery like vasectomy reversal. I had to threaten a lawsuit before he agreed to refund my substantial cash deposit. I was very lucky to find a qualified surgeon that week, otherwise my overseas flight would have been for nothing. The sad thing is I really believe he was once a talented surgeon. Not sure what happened to cause his "extended medical leave" but clearly, he is not ready to return to the knife. I have to recommend seeking another provider for this difficult procedure.
