Dr. FitzGibbons has been in practice in Boulder County since 1993, after completing his fellowship in sports medicine at the Methodist Sports Medicine Center in Indianapolis. While in Indiana, Dr. FitzGibbons assisted in the treatment of injuries sustained by team members of the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Hoosiers and Purdue Boilermakers. A native of Chicago, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He earned his medical degree at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois and completed his internship and orthopedic residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. FitzGibbons has concentrated his practice on the care of problems related to the knee and shoulder with a goal of rapidly returning his patients to sporting activities and/or functional activities of daily living. Dr. FitzGibbons also has extensive experience with total knee replacements, along with utilizing the latest technology and surgical techniques in cartilage …transplantation. Dr. FitzGibbons is board certified in orthopedic surgery and has been published in national orthopedic journals. He has been invited to present his findings at national meetings for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. FitzGibbons is an active participant, spectator, and promoter of all sports. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, snowboarding, golf, and biking. He has volunteered as a team physician in St. Vrain Valley School District athletics for the past 30 years.

Dr FitzGibbons saw something immediately in my X-ray on my 1st visit, that my previous Dr missed, and it was an important find in my knee going forward. I just had a total knee replacement, and of course it’s a tough recovery, but I am very happy with choosing Dr Fitz as my Dr for this. He is very thorough, gives it to you straight, answers all questions well, and really wants to improve function for you. You really feel you can trust him, and his experience speaks volumes in his care and knowledge. You really can’t go wrong with choosing Dr Fitzgibbons as your Doctor! I am so thankful!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Fitzgibbons. He is a perfectionist and highly regarded by other medical professionals. The nurses who work directly with him respect him very much. He did bilateral knee surgery for me and I am doing beyond wonderful!

My bride and I were very impressed with the service and staff. Very professional and thorough. The Dr was fantastic and my knee is already responding to the treatment. No pain today only one day after. First time in a year I’ve felt no pain and slept 7 hours. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou.

Dr FitzGibbons was thorough in explaining my quadriceps tendon rupture diagnosis, surgical procedure and post surgery recovery and rehabilitation. He answered my numerous questions thoroughly and with respect. I’m am five weeks post surgery with no complications and on the expected path to full recovery.

I hurt my knee at workout. Dr. Fitzgibbon looked at my MRI and took more xrays. He explained the problem carefully and then gave me a choice of three options of treatment.
