Dr. Robert C. Fox, MD

A few years ago, he messed up my eye really bad with a lens replacement procedure and caused me to have blurry vision and other serious side effects for almost 2 years. Immediately following the lens replacement surgery, I had extreme and severe headaches, very frequent subconjunctival hemorrhage and infection inside the eye. Even though the headaches stopped after several months, the subconjuncival hemorrhage, infection and double/triple vision continued for 2 years. I had to be monitored by different doctors for 2 years and was also seen by a UCSF specialist for the eyelid atrophy that Fox's procedure had caused. The procedure he did caused my eye lid to droop (atrophy) because very possibly some muscles were broken during the procedure as another eye specialist told me. On the final appointment one month after the procedure, Dr. Fox told me that all those side effects occurred not because he was incompetent but because my body did not heal well and it was all my fault. He then told… me that he would not see me anymore or do any more follow up. He left me in the cold and I had to find other eye specialists to follow up on me. Of course Dr. Fox lied that my body did not heal well and refused to admit the truth that he did a horrible job with the lens replacement and had caused me so much suffering and pain. My other eye was operated on later by another ophthalmologist, a very skillful surgeon and it healed fast and had none of the complications that I experienced with Dr. Fox's surgery. Months after my procedure when I went back to Dr. Fox's office to get my medical records and I found that he had omitted the pages pertaining to the actual procedure that was done at a local Redding hospital. He was incompetent, uncaring and dishonest. I do not recommend him."

I have seen Dr. Fox for over ten years now and he has performed many surgeries on my eyes including shortening the eye muscles and cataract surgery in both eyes. He is a very caring and professional doctor and I have never had an issue with him or his staff. I truly feel he cares about his patients and he has a great bedside personality. I highly recommend him if you need a specialist!

Dr. Fox is a very nice man. His staff was very friendly on the day of my visit in June of 2017. I was referred there by my doctor for a diabetic eye exam. This was supposed to be covered by my insurance. I showed Dr. Fox my prescription from my regular eye doctor for my glasses and contact lenses because he asked about it. I was billed in September for a contact lens fitting and refraction. After a brief discussion over the bill and what actually happened, the office manager waived the bill and told me to toss it. Even though she was courteous, the tone of her voice and lack of an apology for the mistake made me feel she did not agree with her decision. It left a sour impression on me, so unfortunately, I will never go back. I don't like feeling as if this was my fault, when I specifically told him I was ONLY there for him to check the blood vessels in my eyes. :(

Both Dr. Fox and his staff are first rate. They made everything seem so effortless.

I had cataract surgery by Dr. Fox. It was painless and now my vision is excellent. I felt Dr. Fox was looking out for my best interests.
