Dr. Robert Andrew George, MD

I was a was patient of this awful man itn grade school/jr high in the 90s. He misdiagnosed, unnecessarily medicated, emotionally traumatized, and ultimately physically assaulted me. He should not be practicing, especially with children and young women. I’m now an MFT (therapist) and have had many years of GOOD therapy as an adult, so I can take a clear and objective as possible view here. That also means I am trained in psychological diagnosis and treatment. My school “pre diagnosed me with ADD” and pushed me parents to see him. They, and he, overlooked that I was bullied relentlessly - of course I wasn’t focused on school; I was actively traumatizing into fight or flight mode daily! George failed to display empathy and regard for me, and as a result failed to elicit my trust in opening up beyond expressing my extreme discomfort being forced to see him, labeled with a (mis)diagnosis. He took minimal interest in speaking to me, and hearing my concerns. Most of the visit was doing… psychological testing. Atop the bullying, this further made me feel othered, “bad” and “damaged” - took years of therapy to undo this core schema (view of self). He also had my school fill out daily ratings of attention, behavior, and medication compliance. More ammo for the bullies, and me to feel that my worth, my feelings didn’t matter - just being rated by numbers. I vividly remember screaming and crying in the car to and from appointments, why did I have to see him, why do I have something wrong with me. The medication was various ADD stimulant medications. Amphetamines. I believe these primed my young brain’s chemical receptors for the alcohol addiction I suffered in my 20s. (Thankfully I found recovery at in 2013 at 30.) Worst of all, George assaulted me - I was having panic attacks and pleading to not have to annual blood test required to assess whether the stimulants were affecting my liver or other vital functions - I was highly needle phobic, and anything to do with this man was upsetting. He grabbed my limbs, my chest, hit and wrestled me, his body on top of mine. I was 14. I kept trying to push him off me. I was bruised after. My mother sat in horror until she finally yelled at him to stop. Why she didn’t sue for malpractice and assault is beyond me. I refused to take the medications anymore when leaving that school to a high school where I was no longer bullied and finally found friends. Guess what? I excelled academically and no longer displayed “ADD” er, fight or flight trauma symptoms. I now hold a BA and MA Counseling Psychology, CADC-II (certified alcohol/drug counselor from top school in California and have excelled in my career. I guess one thing I have taken from those nightmare years being mistreated by this man, is it contributed to my understanding that compassion, trust, and mutual respect is vital for patient care. To do otherwise is, at the very least, psychologically harmful. Please - do not see this man. Do not take your precious children to him. And if he has caused harm to anyone recently enough for a complaint to his licensing board and sue for malpractice, please do yourself, past, and potential victims a favor. This man should absolutely not be licensed to practice. If it were to help, I would absolutely be willing to be a witness.

Do not take your child here. Find another Doctor and avoid the nightmares my family went through!
