Dr. Robert Jeffrey Grondel, MD

After reading the reviews, I decided I needed to tell my story. I broke both of my bones below my knee. Dr Grondel put in a plate. I kept complaining of excruciating pain. Dr. Grondel said bone pain was different. But the truth was that my leg was dying. My leg was 2-3 times it's normal size and my foot looked like a balloon. He never referred me to a specialist. He just kept saying he only did bones. I was left on my own to solve the problem. I ended up at the Cleveland Clinic. They did by-pass surgery on my leg. What normally is a 4 hour operation turned into 7 because of the scar tissue caused by Dr. Grondel. I was told I would have lost my leg if I had not had the surgery. The surgeon said Dr. Grondel was to blame. They were unable to totally solved the problem and my leg still is not totally normal. I had excurciating pain and lived on percocet for 9 months. I basically lost my life for a year or more. I was so busy healing myself that I waited too long to file a… malpractice suit

Dr Grondel is wonderful as is his PA and staff. I have always been treated like my issues were important; never felt rushed. Calls were always returned and Meds refill was handled the same day.

What I like best is that he is direct and to the point. He explains what he is doing and why it is to be done that way. His staff has been wonderful and always very helpful.

Misdiagnosed my problem not once but twice on separate occasions. No bedside manner, his attitude was condescending, impatient, then sarcastic when I didn't understand what he was saying at first. Did not successfully treat my problems, had to go to another doctor.

Dr. Grondel did a super job on my Knee replacement surgery. Very happy with the results! His office staff needs a tune-up though. Some of my calls to the office were not returned and when I needed help in obtaining prescription medication they didn't seem interested in getting my needs met. This resulted in several sleepless nights with no medication and no recourse.

Ruptured distal bicep tendon repair. I spoke with several surgeons and finally ended up with Dr Grondel. Very strait forward personality and was very clear with what he wanted to perform. I am 100% satisfied since the repair. 100% percent movement and right on schedule. repair was in 2009. Six years later no problems. I highly recommend and would not use anyone else in the future. Yes he is very busy, but well worth waiting for. AAA+++

Excellent he is efficient, and to the point and very knowledgeable

Infection control non existent. Does not wash hands between patients. Digs thru biohazard material without gloves and then resumes patient exam - on a post surgical wound site.

Dr. Grondel was highly professional, courteous and spent a good deal of time with me. He never appeared rushed and always answered all of my questions. He explained things in detail and genuinely was concerned about my well being. He was always very pleasant and his staff was very helpful. I would definitely go to him again if I needed other orthopedic surgery. I have referred friends of mine to him and they, too, all spoke very highly of him and were very pleased. Without question Dr. Grondel is an outstanding Orthopedic Surgeon and I would recommend him highly.
