Dr. Robert Cameron Haugen, MD

Doctor Haugen was the doctor on shift when I was in labor delivering my second baby all naturally, which was a new experience for me. His bedside manner was so wonderful, he spoke softly yet confidently, and allowed me to labor in whatever way made me the most comfortable, and was even in the room for most of my labor before delivery (I was in labor at the hospital for about 9 hours). At one point my baby's heart rate dropped dangerously low, and the alarms had to be sounded, all the nurses ran in, and I was prepped for a possible emergency cesarean. Taking it all in stride, Dr. Haugen suited up for surgery while gently telling me that I might not have to have a cesarean section, but we needed to be ready. He remained calm the entire time, and in the end we avoided a c-section and I delivered my very healthy daughter all naturally with his great patience, kind words of encouragement, and praise through my tough contractions. Because of him I had a wonderful birth experience, which… boosted my emotional health, physical recovery, and confidence in myself as a strong woman and mother. I cannot recommend Dr. Haugen more, and am so glad that he will be the surgeon in charge when I have a cyst removed later this year.

I have been to my share of OBGYN's in the Portland/Vancouver area to find a really great doctor for the past 10 years. I work in the medical field along with physicians and surgeons on a daily basis; so it is easy for me to say that Dr. Haugen has the best bedside manner I have ever encountered, is genuinely caring, and makes sure to take his time answering all your questions. He does not rush his appointments, he takes his time to make sure he has covered all bases with you. He is the best OBGYN I have been to, and I will be going to him for the long term.

Once in a while, a woman is lucky enough to find an outstanding gynecologist. Dr. Haugen is such a doctor. His demeanor is incredibly calming, which is a highly valued trait when facing stressful situations. He is very warm and caring, and takes the time to thoroughly explain the situation and all the options. We worked as a team to make decisions about my health. I would recommend him wholeheartedly, and advise you to wait as long as you have to to get in, because he's worth it.

Its hard to get an appointment because he is so popular but definitely worth the wait! I was refered to him by the midwife that I saw during my first pregnancy. I found out I was expecting twins, considered high risk pregnancy, and she recommended him. He is very knowledgable, thorough, understanding, trustworthy, honest and his staff adore him too!
