Dr. Robert Gilmore Macgregor, MD

I can’t express myself enough in saying Dr. MacGregor is an incredible doctor. He has done so much for my husband and daughter. He has gone beyond the care for my husband especially, more than his other doctors have done. If it has taken more than his expertise, he doesn’t give up but will search for an answer until he gets it. I wish there was some way to express our gratitude. I always look for comments on doctor’s reviews and I hope this review will help someone choose a great doctor. He has a great staff working with him.

Dr. Macgregor and his staff in Richmond Hill are top of the line. We were greeted quickly and warmly when we arrived, both the front and back office staff were super friendly and helpful. He came in and introduced his medical student and then came back and summarized what she found and did some additional examining. Then he sat down and discussed the plan, asked for our input, and told us how to contact him if we had questions. We also loved that he didn't have his face in a computer but paid attention to the patient. Highly recommended!!

I guess the old saying runs true...just because your'e a doctor doesn't necessarily mean that your'e a good doctor. It would have probably been in my best interest to inquire about Roberts medical school transcripts prior to my office visit. I took it on blind faith since he was a referral from my GP that he was legit but unfortunately as in the case with most Savannah physicians I was disappointed. I've never been pardoned to such a blatant case of "throwing in the towel" as I experienced that afternoon at Savannah Neurology. Short of shrugging his shoulders and scratching his head after he abruptly exited the examining room would have been more satisfying than if he had not examined me at all. In the future Robert you might want to refrain from yawning in your patients face.....or at the very least apologize afterwards for doing so. Perhaps make an effort to listen to their concerns instead of randomly trying to poorly diagnose their condition with no concerns to what they're … trying to explain to you. I wish I had the opportunity in my career field to simply walk away from my patrons as you did with me...but they pay me for a service that they require and expect, oh, that's right I paid you for a service too, shame on me for expecting results for payment rendered.

Initially, he seemed interested in helping me try to figure out what was causing my symptoms and said that if my MRI came back normal, he'd do further testing to make sure there wasn't a "structural issue" that was being missed. However, when I returned several months later (not by choice; he was very booked), he told me that my MRI was normal and basically shrugged his shoulders and said must be a mood disorder. I asked to switch to another doctor in the practice, and the doctor they set me up with would hardly even listen to me and just basically repeated what Dr. MacGregor had said to me. It was clear that they shared notes and were just going to go along with one another's words, which I suppose is to be expected within a medical practice. Unfortunately, Savannah doesn't have much variety to offer in the way of neurologists; the bulk of neurologists in the area are in this same practice, so I'll have to look elsewhere. Another thing worth mentioning is that I asked for his input on… whether it sounded like Lyme Disease because I had had a number of people tell me my symptoms were consistent with it, and he asked me if I had been off in the woods in New Hampshire so as to suggest that all or most cases of Lyme Disease originate in NH, which is just blatantly false. It's a shame when doctors would rather tell you that your symptoms are all in your head than admit that they personally just are unable to find the cause.
