Dr MacLachlan read an MRI done by Regional Health and concluded my 88 yr old father didn’t have a stroke, that he was just getting old and had ataxia. My father went from riding his bike and living normally to not being able to walk without severe wobbling, vomiting, and slurring his words in 24 hours. Over 3 1/2 months later we got a second opinion from another neurologist, reading the same MRI, who confirmed he had not one, but multiple small strokes. My dad lost 3 1/2 months of treatment and possibly had even more strokes because of the misdiagnosis. It was clear to everyone that knew him he had had a stroke....one doesn’t complete a 15 mile bike ride and then get old in 24 hours and become unable to walk straight and slur their words. We wonder if he even looked at the MRI. The evidence was obvious when a family member saw the MRI due to the appearance of many white spots in the brain.
