STEPHEN MANLOVE, PSYCHIATRIST, MDAs a Board Certified Psychiatrist, Forensic Psychiatrist, and Internist, I have practiced psychiatry in the Rapid City, South Dakota area for 30 years using the standard medical model. Unfortunately, one disease may have many different causes, and the standard model doesn’t work in every situation.Around 2014, I made the decision to look beyond standard practice to try to help every one of my patients. Applying both my psychiatric and internal medicine training, I explored more modern theories of illness and researched new mental health treatment strategies. Where I found scientifically based positive outcomes, I incorporated new methods into our clinic, incorporating brain health and whole body health perspectives. More patients began reporting better outcomes; the change has made me personally very optimistic about the future of psychiatric care.I grew up in Minnesota and moved to South Dakota in 1987.
