Dr. Robert Lawton Meade

My 80 year old husband had fallen in the middle of the night. I called ambulance as I could not puck him up. Explained extensive history to EMS, which include dementia, A-Fib, heart condition, kidney infections, uses walker, severe confusion confusion. Within 1 hour, I was called to pick him up and advided he was just fine. Nothing wrong. We went to Dr Duncan a few hours later and my husband was immediately transferred to Mission in Asheville. I was told by his Dr in Asheville that I needed to prepare for my husband not to ever return home and that his death was near. I am horrified that Dr Meade did NOT run one test and sent him straight home. I really want Andres. Dr Thomas Duncan and Dr Roybim Restrepo were fabulous and took immediate action. Be very aware of this.

While practicing in Jax., Dr. Meade was my family physician. He moved from Jax to Georgia and I was sorry to see him leave. When I would visit him, Dr. Meade was always thorough in his approach to new and previously known medical situations. In conversation, he took the time to get to know me and my needs and was careful to explain any diagnosis or questions that I might have had. These qualities are hard to find in many doctors of today and although I have good care now, Dr. Meade is often remembered for his professional approach and dedication to my personal welfare. I highly recommend him for family doctoring.

I would think twice of going to Shands Starke Emergency room after the level of care recieved from this doctor. He should be repromanded for the way he treats his patients! He and staff were very rude, making jokes and comments outside of my room (about me!) when I recently had to go in for being ill. I was humiliated and will be filing a formal complaint against him and staff. I have never seen this kind of treatment before at any medical practice. It's disgusting and sad.
