Dr. Robert H Mills, MD

I have permanent nerve damage in my foot from having surgery with Dr. Mills. He gets very annoyed when patients do there homework and ask questions. One of the questions I asked him was a concern about getting nerve damage from surgery. He told me it won’t happen. He got annoyed when I asked him that question. Well it sure did happen. I got nerve damage. Those nerves are so small and they don’t grow back. I’m on permanent medicine now for the pain. I trusted him that I wouldn’t get nerve damage and obviously I shouldn’t have trusted him.

Dr. Mills performed 3 surgeries on my feet. Two bunion surgeries and one elective hardware removal. All went very well. I had a great result and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled foot surgeon. In addition, many surgeons can be condescending or dismissive. Dr. Mills was so down to earth and accessible that I looked forward to my visits!

After tearing my Achilles tendon and detaching it from bone from heel to back of knee , I visited two doctors that gave misdiagnoses. Something was just not right. I went to Dr. Robert Mills. He discovered from x rays something that the other two doctors did not. I was placed in a cast and after several weeks, with rehabilitation treatment and exercise, I was able to resume participating in sports again. Dr. Mill is a caring and highly professional surgeon. It's sick to see negative reviews regarding a bunion.

I had broken my heel and struggled to find a doctor on my insurance that would treat this injury (apparently it’s rare?). He was consistently LATE. At least an hour if not later. As a doctor he answered my questions, but honestly he always seemed a little too friendly and felt uncomfortable at times.

I went to him for bunion that was not painful but prevented me from finding shoes that fit. I awakened from surgery to find he had mutilated my other four toes, removing bones, shortening them. Three long scars on my foot and pins in each toe. All this done without discussing it with me. Besides the damage in appearance of foot, I now have permanent stiffness and pain in the area of the four toes. He fixed the bunion with the worst method: A metal plaque over the joint, This creates rigidity and disconfort. There are other options available but he never discussed them with me. I wrote him about all this but he ignored my messages.

I had no pain in my feet. My problem was a a deviation of my big toe that made it difficult to find shoes that fit. I awakened from surgery to find that without any my consentment or any previous discussion, Dr.Mills had made cuts between my other 4 toes and removed bones, thus shortening my toes in relation to the big one and causing me foot to look entirely unnatural. When a few months later it came time to operate the other one, I asked he not do the same to the other foot, not only because those toes did not bother me but also because I was still feeling a great deal of discomfort in those toes he had needlessly de-boned on the other foot. Dr Mills intimidated me into allow him to do the same in order to validate what he done on the other foot, telling me the pain on the operated foot would take a year to disappear and that though the foot looked weird I would be comfortable and happy once I could enjoy the final result. Well, the final result is this: I no longer can… walk like I used to. The area of those four toes feels painful even when I am in bed. Sort of like when your foot goes to sleep except that it does not stop. The loss of bone has caused toes to turn under making it uncomfortable because I walk on the tip of the toes rather than under them. Dr Mills performed unnecessary surgery that I did not ask for and had not pain that required it. All the pressure when I walk goes on the big toe that sticks way past all the other shortened toes and, because Dr. Mills chose to repair the big toe via the most brutal manner: A fusion with a metal plate, the toe is a long rigid stick that hurts within minutes after I start walking. The width of my feet has been corrected but I still cannot easily fit in shoes. The slightest rise on my heel puts more pressure than my toes can take. He has ruined my quality of life by pushimg for excessive surgery I did not need.

I was on my second visit to holy cross institute with dr Robert mills where my appointment was scheduled at 11 am and was not called from the waiting area until 1230 in the afternoon . Dr mills visit entailed him asking me how I felt and explained to him I was still in pain and responded to me " I don't know what is wrong with you and told me to get an MRI and left the room with me thinking he would be returning back , but didn't. After waiting for him another 15 minutes he had already gone on to the next patient and closed the door on me in front of my face. I left the facility in shock with the rude and outrageous behavior of dr Robert mills. I will never go back to holy cross or dr Robert mills, and my recommendation is go see a different doctor. It was a total waste of time with this dr and he needs to learn how to treat patients with respect . Kevin SUNLEY.

Confident I have chosen the correct Dr. to do my surgey

I had an inflammatory foot issue from a surgery done by a podiatrist, that was masked by neuropathy brought on by Chemotherapy. The constant pain associated by the inflammation became apparent when I stopped the Chemotherapy to begin radiation therapy. I interviewed 3 doctors. Only Dr. Mills was willing to help me immediately. I am now pain-free.

I think Dr Mills is an excellent Dr, explains the situation and takes time to answer questions.
