Dr. Robert Edmund Morton, MD

Waiting time varies depending on nature of visits of other patients, when I get in to the office and check in, how many patients he sees on day I visit. Waiting time could be 5 minutes, or more, depending on the above - normal.

I have seen Dr. Morton several times for what, based on internet research at least, are classic ulcer symptoms that I've had off and on for about 20 years. I decided, rather than continuing to pop acid blockers without a real diagnosis, I would see a GI specialist and nail down what I am dealing with. I fully expected to get an endoscopy, which would be unpleasant but would at least confirm or refute that I have stomach ulcers. Dr. Morton, however, first sent me for an abdominal ultrasound (which would not detect stomach ulcers). When that was negative, he sent me for an abdominal/pelvic CT scan (which also would not detect stomach ulcers). That has now also, as I could have predicted, come back negative. Now I am waiting (second day) for a call back from his office to see if he will finally send me for the endoscopy that I should have had to begin with. I'm so frustrated by his bizarre, slow, and expensive approach to diagnosis that I'm tempted to start from scratch with… someone new. The most bizarre part is that Dr. Morton says he doesn't believe I have stomach ulcers because my stomach is not located where the pain is (in mid-belly, and also through to my back). But EVERY diagram I can find in my research shows that my stomach is exactly where my pain is. How strange is that? Since Dr. Morton presumably does know where the stomach is located, I can only guess that maybe he wasn't really listening to my symptoms, prescribed an unnecessary initial test, and now feels the need to defend that earlier decision. In any event, I am quite dissatisfied.

I went in with high hopes and left deflated because he was hurried and didn't spend any time listening to what my symptoms are. I have no doubt that he helps a lot of people, but is the only answer to digestive disorders Reflux? Nexium? I will be finding another GI specialist. Oh, and did I mention that his office staff are the snobbiest I have ever encountered? A very disappointing experience.

Dr. Morton is a caring personality. He is very precise in his work and always has a kind word and a smile for you. He always puts you at ease and you trust him completely. The only thing I don't like, is his staff, that is very incompetent and lazy. Never returning calls. I hope he fires some of them. There are plenty competent people who would love to have a job with Dr. Morton.
