Let me start off by saying that I do not do anything without having done a thorough amount of research. I have been living with not one but two inguinal hernias for the last 5 years. This being my first surgery I took extra care in gathering as much information as I could. It was clear that I had to have them repaired and mesh was going to have to be used. But who was I going to trust to perform a procedure that didn’t seem to have a high, I won’t say success rate but a high satisfaction rate. What I mean by that is people have these done all the time but they don’t always turn out well. I spoke to a lot of people about their experiences with some highly recommended surgeons. For every person I spoke to that was satisfied, I spoke to someone that wasn’t. Some wish they never had it done at all. Out of the four practices I was researching only one came back with not only 100% positive feedback, but these people were down right passionate about their experience. That’s what led me to… Dr. Har Chi Lau and Dr. Robert Raniolo of the Hudson Valley Surgical Group. Dr. Lau and Dr. Rainiolo performed a Laparoscopic bi-lateral inguinal mesh hernia repair on me about two weeks ago and not only do I feel great, I feel perfect. I never needed pain medication, I was out to dinner with my family the next evening I even took my 7 year old to a birthday party the next morning. I was never more than a little sore. I have had dental procedures that have cause me a lot more pain and discomfort that this did. Absolutely incredible. So if you are on the fence about getting this done, rest assured you will not find more capable, skilled and relatable surgeons than Dr. Lau and Dr. Raniolo.

Refreshing to encounter a doctor who truly had my best interests in mind. Couldn't have had a better experience with Dr. Raniolo at Phelps Memorial Hospital!
