If you're anyone in the (at least) East Coast, trying to get services covered for an autistic family member, this Doctor will ensure that you don't get the needed care and have to pay out of pocket even though your insurance company and your employer says the services are covered. Good news for insurance companies though. If you're looking of a denial of service claim by an "objective" third party, look no further: this is your guy. For references, check with Orthonet.

This Doctor demies Occupational Therapy to my 5 years old autistic kid. He doesn't know anything about autism, and treats my son's mental disorder as an injury. He is not qualified to review or decide on my kids needs. It is frustrating that my son's insurance approval has to rely on this Dr and OrthoNet.

The procedure my doctor requested is FDA approved and Refowitz is not a neurosurgeon. He is simply some guy with a degree that sold out to the insurance company OrthoNet. Their sole purpose is to prevent patients from receiving necessary medical procedures. They won't approve surgery, or more therapy, or more injections so what exactly are they willing to do other than keep collecting our premiums? As far as I can tell - nothing.

Doctors like him are a blot on the profession. Just to milk money from insurance. He gets paid when he denies care. Even when he approves it it puts an extra burdon on my treating doctor.

This guy is a hack, pure and simple. Without any prior knowledge, physical exam, history, anything really, he apparently felt it necessary to deny coverage on physical therapy that is helping to stabilize my knee. I am 31 and walk with a limp -- funny thing is that a little over a year ago I ran 6 minute miles good for a 38-minute 10k... but apparently trying to run again is verboten! I guess his bonus (necessary for house in the Hamptons) is tied to how many people he denies coverage for. The hippocratic oath for him was a hippocratic JOKE.

This Doctor is not a neurosurgeon! I was denied also. Let him live with this daily pain and not able to walk at times. How can an Internest make decisions on patient's with severe back problems and over ride the recommendations of not one, but two Neurosurgeons?

Although this "doctor" is not a neurosurgeon, he denied my spinal surgery. My doctor, an internist, and my neurosurgeon, both recommended the surgery, as I am rapidly becoming paralyzed in my legs. HE HAS NEVER EXAMINED ME, and yet, he diagnosed me as not needing the surgery, saying it would not help. I dare him!! This is my body and I don't want to end up completely paralyzed. I will proceed with legal action, if necessary. If you are this doctor, shame on you!! If you are not, my apologies.
