Dr. Robert Kenneth Roby, MD

He seemed like he had three things on his mind besides me. Whenever I asked him a question he looked surprised, as if it was ridiculous for me to have any question at all. If there was any way he could pawn whatever the tasks at hand was on a nurse or assistant, he would. And often these assistants had an even worse attitude. The last time I saw him, he was showing some student the ropes and I felt like an imposition. He clearly wanted to get back to her. After that I decided to look for another primary care physician. Also on one of his first business cards, he had his email address printed on it (I noticed it was removed from his business cards later). I started to send him emails, and there was never any response. Turns out it is policy to not respond to emails, never got a good answer as to why. I decided to see if I could find any doctor covered by my insurance that actually responds to emails. After calling at least a dozen doctors, I began to think the search was futile.… However eventually I did find one that answers all my email questions! Get with the program, doctors. This is the new millennium: respond to emails or retire.

Many years ago I had a serious problem with intermittent abdominal pain which would only last 4-8 hours. I contacted the doc and he told me it was all psychological. I went to his supervisor and ordered me an ultrasound which revealed a 2 cm gallstone. I'm so glad it wasn't in my head though Dr. Roby did. He should have explored the many options before telling me nothing can be done. He is, in general, a very nice person. Maybe he has perfected the way he does things. This was many years ago. Its tough to trust someone once they don't take the patient seriously.

Dr. Roby is a wonderful clinician. He spends alot of time with his patients. He has excellent assessment skills and his diagnosis is just about always correct.He promptly returns phone calls and always the same day.
