My insurance requires me to see him for my medications. He always schedules me an hour, but has told me that he is a psychiatrist, it is NOT his job to counsel me. It is only his job to prescribe. When I expressed a lack of confidence to my PCP, it was noted in my medical record.. This last visit, he told me I need to find another PRESCRIBER, that there was nothing further he could do to help me. We have tried exactly 1 low dose anti-depressant. seems more like sour grapes; not very professional.

This doctor actually allowed me to prescribe my own medication because he was not educated in fibromyalgia, he didn't even know what effect, good or bad, it might have on me. He took my advice, based on my research, and I'm not a medical professional, just a good reader. Once after a consultation, I left his office upset and in tears after a discussion about suicide. Neither he nor anyone from his staff bothered to check on me.
