Dr. Robert Fern Stauffer, MD

Dr Stauffer doesn't just prescribe medication. He wants to know about you. He asks you about everything going on in your life not just your mind. Because there are other things that can contribute to ADHD, depression & anxiety, etc he wants to make sure you are being treated properly. He suggested a good probiotic for me. When I mentioned my primary care wanted to do a sleep study and I could afford it he recommended a Neurologist. His staff is friendly & tries to accommodate whenever possible.

He is the worst doctor I've ever seen, no joke. He refused to listen to what I had researched about my depression, and my previous doctor's opinion. He bragged that he did not read books about psychiatry. Way to keep current ! He told me mid-appointment he would not write me any prescriptions that day. That is why I went to him. I left midappointment and asked for my $30 back. The receptionist said he told her she was not allowed to discuss MY situation, with ME ! That makes a lot of sense ! I am reporting him to the BBB, I called Altius from his parking lot, and will file a report with any official agencies I can. He also hummed and sang to himself during my appointment. I couldn't understand half of what he said, he was just mumbling. I thought he was in his 70s, maybe his 80s. Very surprised to see online he is apparently 62. There is something definitely not competent about this man. He is not all there. He needs to retire.

He tells you a whole bunch of different meds and then asks is there one you would like to try. He doesn't seem to remember what a bedside manner ought to be, and can say really hurtful things.

I think he has been a really great therapist. At first I was a little iffy about him, but he has really shown that he cares about me. He really wants to make sure I am doing well, and that I have been given the right diagnosis. He always says it's okay for me to call if I need some help, and allows me to make 2 week appoints, or 1 month appointments. Don't let first impressions get to you, because he really is a great doctor. He also has a sense of humor!

We visted Dr. Stauffer twice and each time he was running over an hour late. We had an appt. at 11:20 and he had his 10:00 appt. still waiting. He's a very strange elderly man and I think he needs to retire.

I began going to Stauffer because he was on my insurance list. He gets the job done although sometimes it seems as if he's just guessing then trying this or that to see if something will work. If you need someone really outgoing or friendly, he's not the one for you. His office staff consistenly bills the wrong company and has to re-bill. I still go to him because like I said...he does get the job done.
