Dr. Robert Brooke Summerour, MD

Good luck trying to schedule an appointment. The man that answers the phone should work at a funeral home instead! I understand if Dr. Summerour is not taking anymore patients but their clerical support should be at least empathetic and perhaps offer alternatives. The man that took my call was curt, offered no options or alternatives even when I asked. He just kept repeating the same thing as if I was incoherent; no apology, no concern, just cold as ice! You have the wrong person answering phone calls. I guess they can be excused from being polite and helpful since they are not taking anymore patients!

Was not supportive or helpful... I didn’t feel trustworthy...

Dr. Summerour has seen me on and off since 7 years ago. He knows I have an issue with marijuana abuse and have had relapses, let alone bipolar disorder and ADHD, and when I lost my job and girlfriend, I went into a dark place. During this time, I missed one appointment. Come to find out next time I call, Dr. Summerour refused to see me. Undeterred, I contacted his after hours patient line, during which the operator contacted Dr. Summerour and gave me a message back from the Doctor, saying that I should voluntarily go to the county hospital and submit myself for a psychiatric evaluation, also known as a 5150 hold. Instead of telling me to just get a different doctor through his after hours patient line, he had the operator tell me to go inpatient. Not JUST that, but he wanted me to have the doctor who administers my treatment during this time contact him after my hold. I asked for clarification, "Is there a chance Dr. Summerour will see me if I do this?" The answer was an emphatic yes.… Many of you are probably not familiar with a facility called ETS, but that is the only facility connected to the county hospital for psych evals. And it is full of lower functioning people that are looking for a place to live, or suffering from addiction to things far greater than weed and honestly my entire stay there I watched as many people got tranquilizer shots and got put to sleep because they were being so out of hand. 2 and a half days later, I am released from the 5150 as the Doctors there determined that I had no short-term health problem that would interfere with my day to day life. They also contacted Dr. Summerour. Guess what? Yup, Dr. Summerour tells me (through his secretary) that he doesn't want to see me. When I inquire about the 5150 and why he wanted me on it, the secretary said that I was mistaken and the Doctor never wanted to see me. When I said what the after hours patient line told me, the secretary seemed taken aback and didn't know what to say other than "I'll leave him another message!" This whole experience would be a joke if the 5150 wasn't so bad. I had to sit in a chair in a large lobby looking room for 3 days because they couldn't transfer me to a bed. Instead of being able to sleep in a room somewhere with maybe only one roomate to bother me, I sat and watched crazy people being crazy for 72 hours just because Dr. Summerour felt my only option was to go on a 5150. Stick to your Christian band, you need more practice because you are not a man of God.

Amazing insight.with compassion..helped me focus and see more with clarity..excellent... .wud refer everyone that needs professional help with trauma or help with any psychiatric need...excellent direct to the point at zeroing in on problems...very direct..he is a 5 star psychiatrist

In my opinion money is the priority. Dr Summerour is less than sincere. Entrance doors are really dirty. Waiting room is dirty and in need of new furnishings. Appointment time means absolutely nothing. 30 min to 90 min wait times. Unorganized and unprofessional. I fired him recently. Feeling so much better. ð???

Dr Summerour changed my life. Always time for me. Always returns calls. Goes above and beyond.

Dr. Summerour is a very caring, compassionate doctor who listens and really hears what I am saying.

Staff/Receptionist is horrible, humiliates you because you didn't keep last appointment because you did not have the money to come although needed to. Speaks to you like your less than her, I have two Degree's and she still felt the need to degrade me for not being able to go to one appointment because of money issues. If i didn't like the Dr. and if he wasn't really good, I wouldn't return because of staff.
