Dr. Robert Louis Tatsumi, MD

Dr. Tatsumi is a very kind, considerate man who is easy to talk with and whom I feel cares deeply about his patients. He explained my options thoroughly prior to surgery and allowed me to choose the option I felt was appropriate for me. He performed a microdiscectomy on my lower back and it completely eliminated my sciatic leg pain. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs spinal surgery and desires a communicative patient/physician relationship.

Initially, I chose Dr. Tatsumi based on his reviews. While I acknowledge or believe he has honed his surgical skills, my decision proved to be a mistake. At our first meeting, I was told or led to believe that I would be receiving replacement discs. But in the surgical plan he wrote my treatment was much more than that. In a second meeting, I asked and was told something different. I also had a second spine issue which needed attention. Despite real pain and need to get short term treatment from another doctor, Dr. Tatsumi essentially told me it was not a problem despite test results showing otherwise. When I asked him to reconsider, he had his staff call and tell me to get a second opinion. I cancelled my pending surgery with him. Never heard from him or his staff again. Period. He just washed his hands of me but did remember to bill me. Dr. Tatsumi may have highly honed surgical skills but he has the empathy of a rock. So, All that glitters is clearly not gold.

Dr. Tatsumi is expert in his field. He provided excellent care and advice related to my lumbar fusion surgery and follow up care. His pleasant and professional demeanor combined with skill, knowledge and confidence helped me feel comfortable and at ease. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend Dr. Tatsumi. Very personable & a skilled surgeon. After years of lower back pain, reaching the point where I was barely able to stand, surgery was completed on my spine, L4-5, with great results. I now am able to golf 3 to 5 times weekly, with no return of the previous pain symptoms.

After seeing an orthopedist over the summer, I finally had an MRI. It showed my L4/L5 lumbar had collapsed into my spinal cord. I was referred to Dr. Tatsumi. I reached out to friends and found 4 people who had him perform surgery in the past. All said he was excellent. I totally agree. He's wonderful at explaining exactly what he's going to do and answering any questions. After the surgery, I was out of pain instantly and have remained pain-free for over a year now. He and his staff are very supportive and willing to spend as much time as you need.

Both my husband and I have had C5 neck surgery done with Dr Tatsumi. He is the Best! Almost all my headaches are gone!!!! My husband can work in the Maintenance Field without neck pain! Love Him!!! ??

I can't say enough good things about Dr Tatsumi - I spent 9 months trying to deal with my lower back, leg and foot pain with a neurosurgeon and finally decided I needed a second opinion when that surgeon wanted to do a double fusion in my upper lumbar where there was no pain. I found Dr Tatsumi and was impressed when he said based only on the x-rays and scans he could understand that but based on my symptoms it looked like L5-S1 nerves should be decompressed. I just had that minimally invasive, outpatient surgery (1 hour) and I am dramatically better. I will be forever grateful to Dr Tatsumi for listening to me, for fixing my pain, and saving me and from an extreme and unnecessary surgery.

I would recommend this surgeon to ANYONE with major spinal issues. He did my neck surgery two years ago, and my lower back surgery this past year. The results from both are AMAZING!!!!
