Dr. Uslander provided the medical expertise and patient advocacy we needed. His thoughtful approach and calming manner made all the difference during an unavoidably difficult time.

I was not with my Mother during her initial interview with "Dr Bob" (I live out of state) but was there for the rest of the journey. Upon my arrival he and his staff were there to answer any questions I might have or to address any concerns. My mother's interaction with Dr Bob was brief as she was battling esophageal closure - she was literally starving to death at 91 - but she was determined to go out on her own terms. Unfortunately Dr Bob wasn't available to assist my Mother immediately upon being cleared as mentally competent but - did I say she was determined - she waited an additional 10 days for him. He was with us that last day, super supportive and caring, and stayed with my Mom till she was gone. She went very quickly and painlessly. He stayed with us after she was gone to answer any questions we might have and to provide any support we might have needed. Dr Bob was truly a godsend. Thank you Dr Bob!

In 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer and it was questionable about how long I might live. A friend of mine, a doctor, referred me to Dr. Bob for support along my journey. Dr. Bob and Elizabeth were the team of professionals at Integrated MD Care who came to my aid. They have both been with me for the last year to help me plan for aid in dying and to provide emotional/therapeutic support on a weekly basis. They have been professional and humane through this process and have helped me immensely.

As a terminal patient of Dr. Bob Uslander and his team who is not quite yet at the end of my life’s journey still living with an incurable aggressive form of cancer with the prognosis of expected progression of metastasis to the brain, liver, kidneys, digestive tract and bones which can be so painful that the standard of care of hospice may not be able to manage and I will possibly have more pain and suffering without the option of Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) and Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking (VSED). I am so very grateful for the much needed compassionate and professional services that Dr. Bob Uslander and his team provide giving his patients a better quality of life and for more peaceful passing options. From the moment we contacted Dr. Bob things got easier. He was able to meet with my Mom at her home right away. Communication was clear and concise. He offered to contact TopKare hospice for us after hearing about the stumbling blocks we faced with Kaiser. They responded with help and equipment that very day. The insurance Mom paid for was nowhere near as good as the service we received with TopKare and it was covered by Medicare! Stuff we had been paying "out of pocket" for was in fact covered free! Nurses visited, spiritual advisors came by... we were very well treated. That referral alone was worth it but Dr. Bob and his team made everything so much less cumbersome. This time in all of our lives is uniquely difficult and different and we were granted the ability to pay attention to what mattered, Mom. Dr. Bob and the Integrated MD Care team made this as painless as possible, and we are so grateful to them all.

Dr. Bob Uslander made many promises and assurances to my mother after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I had high hopes that my mom would be in good hands and her last days would have the level of comfort and care he promised. Instead, we got the exact opposite. I had to chase after him to get updates and information. He promised 24/7 concierge care, but when I alerted him to my mother’s rapidly failing condition on a Thursday, he told me he was going away for the weekend and he would stop by on Tuesday. (My mom died on that Saturday before hearing anything from him.) To add insult to injury, “Dr. Bob” did not even bother to reach out to the family after he heard about my mom’s death. “Dr. Bob” told us to think of him as the “quarterback” who would coordinate with hospice and oversee my mom’s end of life needs. This analogy works if you think of Dr. Bob as a quarterback who didn’t just drop the ball – he never showed up for the game. I recommend thinking of him not as a… “quarterback,” but as a “charlatan.”
