Dr. Robert Leo Vanderlin II, MD

He inserted my copper IUD a few years ago and nearly punctured my uterus. The insertion was so painful I almost passed out and threw up afterwards. Insertions usually take 10 minutes and mine took nearly a half hour. The nurse in the room seemed just as shocked as I was after the procedure. I had to have an internal ultrasound immediately after to make sure my uterus was not punctured. He was not necessarily rude but very terse and unapologetic. He may be a good doctor, but I would not recommend him for IUD insertion. I had another IUD inserted a few years later and it as almost completely painless and took 5 minutes.

I was a Patient of Dr. Vanderlin's very briefly when I had an OB/GYN issue that was escalated beyond my usual PCP. His bedside manner is sorely lacking. I had him call me to convey bad test results, while I was driving in the middle of rush hour traffic (could have at least asked if I was somewhere I could sit down and take in the bad news before giving it) and gave it as dry and matter-of-factly as he could. I immediately switched Doctors to someone who had a better idea of how to be compassionate to their patients.

This man saved my life....I had a 35 pound tumor which he removed safely and restored me to health....he's the best!
