He saved my life. Truly a gifted surgeon. He also has a wonderful bedside manner which is rare to have both. My previously being a patient of his , he was large part of the inspiration to become a nurse at 40 after being under his care. I wanted to help others the way he helped me. I would consider it an honor to be able to work with him one day. I completely have 100% faith in Dr. Wood.

My son had pancreatitis and it took a week for Dr. Wood to do something. He finally opened up his abdomen and removed his gallbladder and he said he put a drain in his stomach to his pancreas but who really knows. He butchered him. My son all but died. Dr. Wood keep releasing him but primary doctor would send him back to the hospital. In and out of the hospital because Dr. Wood would not help or take charge of his lack of knowledge. His sloppy work on the drain he put into his stomach drain in his body and poisoned my son. He ran fevers up to 104 but Dr. Wood kept sending him home. Stay away from this Dr. if you want a full recovery. My son will be sick all of his life because of the uncaring Dr. that chose to do nothing for him. It took a team of doctors to save my son which Dr. Wood did not care. My son did not have insurance at the time and Dr. Wood was very cold about that. This was 2 years ago. And now my don is going on his 7th surgery in Dallas because of the not caring Dr.… Wood presented in his sloppy work. His bedside manner is a zero so he really doesn't deserve any stars. Stay away from this doctor unless you have plenty of money because he all in it for that. He doesn't care for even follow up much with his patients. He is cold and doesn't get along with other doctors outside of his specialty. I had to be the one to coordinate my son's care because Dr. Wood was so absent and really didn't give a hoot. My son is a UT Southwestern in Dallas. If you get sick, go there. They will do it right. They are 100 percent better and know what to do.

Dr. Wood did a liver transplant on our daughter in 1999 and she is doing GREAT at the present time. He took time with us and his follow up was wonderful.

Dr Woods is a negligent and lazy physician. Practicing medicine at his convenience rather than what is best for the patient. My husband entered St Lukes hospital with a routine appendectomy with no infection present. Rather than operating immediately as our GP had expected, Dr Woods kept us waiting for 4 days in order to perform surgery on his regularly scheduled operating day. The delay caused my husband to develop a severe infection. Due to the severe infection that was caused by Dr Woods negligence my husbands surgery was longer and more complicated, he had to undergo the surgery while battling infection, and his post surgery recovery was longer and more complicated due to the fact that he was recovering not only from the surgery but also from a raging infection. We had to stay in the hospital a total of 9 days for what could have been a routine appendectomy. Below is the whole story. My husband went into the hospital with lots of pain for an emergency appendectomy. He was sent to… the hospital by his GP with the knowledge that he did not have appendicitis (no infection), but he did have a blockage in the appendix, causing fluid build-up and inflammation that could become infected and rupture. My husband was seen by Dr Woods on the morning after he was admitted into the hospital in large amounts of pain. Rather than operating on my husband immediately, Dr Woods had us wait 4 days in the hospital until it was his regular day for surgery, because otherwise he would have had to perform emergency surgery outside of his regular operating schedule (which would have been an inconvenience to him). So my husband was made to wait in pain in the hospital as his condition worsened. By day 3 my husband had developed a raging infection of the appendix and was now in critical condition. Since my husband was now critical spiking fever of 105 Dr Woods started getting worried calling every hour throughout the night and finally pulled our surgery time to an earlier hour on day 4. When my husband came out of surgery, I asked the doctor who operated (a colleague of Dr Woods) how it went. She said that because of the infection the surgery lasted longer, and she had to make a bigger incision because the appendix was so large and inflamed, AND upon removal the appendix had burst leaking the infected contents into the abdominal cavity. I asked her why they waited until my husband had developed an infection to do surgery, and she said that his case had not been given to her until the day before (day 3). I told her that he had been admitted 4 days before, infection free. She asked which hospital. I told her this same hospital and that Dr Woods had our case since we had been admitted. She said that she did not even know that we were there until the day before surgery. Due to the severe infection that was caused by Dr Woods negligence, his post surgery recovery time was longer and harder, and we had to stay in the hospital a total of 9 days for what could have been a routine appendectomy. Recently my husband had to go to MD Anderson (where we had a great experience) and when they looked into his abdominal cavity the Dr asked us if my husband ever had any abdominal infections because his right abdominal wall was full of scarring. We told him unfortunately yes, he did. I would not recommend that anyone see Dr Woods. He is lazy and negligent doctor.

Got a simple procedure done that left a very bad scar. When I went to another surgeon for a follow up since I had other problems with this surgeon, the new surgeon informed me that he had done a bad job and now the only way to fix it is to have another surgery that I have to pay for. The only good experience I had with him was how easy and fast it was to get an appointment, now I know why. If you don't want to look like a monster after surgery, find a better surgeon. There's no shortage of surgeons who actually care about their patients in Houston, but he isn't on of them.

After surgery I was prescribed a very weak medication that caused numerous side effects, after asking for something that would take care of the pain and better suit me his office refused to give me anything other than what was prescribed with the exception of a even weaker drug with the same side effects. So here I am a day after being cut open and stitched up and i'm in a LOT of pain with nothing to help. He is a good surgeon but the fact that they don't care that I'm laying around in severe pain is enough for me to get on here and advise anyone from considering him if they would like a pain free recovery.

I had a very rare situation and I can honestly say he saved my life. He has performed 3 surgeries with this ongoing nightmare and I don't think I could stand for another doctor to take over at this point. He is amazing along with his complete staff................

This guy is a head case. Knows everything. Won't answer general questions from patients. Seen him four times since 2010. Have already found another doctor to replace this doctor.
