Dr. Roderick Paras, MD

I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in 2010. Dr. Paras was there to see me through the darkest, scariest thing I had ever faced. He took care of me throughout my chemo experience making sure I was never in discomfort. He always made sure I knew exactly what was going on and listened to my feelings and input. He thoroughly explained everything in terms that I could easily understand. He stayed on top of order CT's and PET scans and always knew what was going on with me. I have no doubt, I am only alive and writing this today because Dr. Paras was my doctor. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking an oncologist for treatment.

He talks TO you, not at you. He actively listens and thoroughly explains what he thinks and why, making sure you understand the situation and works with you on testing and treatment. On top of all that, he smiles... all the time. He is a great person and I trust him completely with my health.

I was admitted to the hospital with multiple symptoms. I lost count of the amount of specialists they brought in, however, Dr. Paras stood out. You could tell he genuinely cared about my well being. I did everything to ensure my follow up care had him included, and I am so happy I did. He takes his time with you. He treats you as an equal, instead of just another "clueless moronic patient". This doctor goes above and beyond his call of duty. His office staff is just as amazing. I will sing his praises until my dying breath. Literally, the very best doctor, I have ever been to, in my entire life.

The office staff at Ocala Oncology are not the friendliest people...but Dr. Paras is absolutely AMAZING. He will take as long as needed to explain things to you and has a wonderful bedside manner. I highly recommend him!!

Dr. Paras at Ocala Oncology failed miserably to practice at even a minimal standard. Dr. Paras will appear caring and concerned as any doctor, but he is not. My mother was diagnosed with cancer. She spent 2 months before her death as his patient. Her condition became progressively worse while in his care. He did not listen when she tried to tell him the pain was worsening. He never ordered additional tests (the family urged him to), he forgot to prescribe important medication. He never sat us down and discussed my mother's condition with her or staged her. She underwent chemtherapy and the family was given hope. It wasn't until her last visit to ER at West Marion we were informed of her prognosis. A doctor who had never seen her told us it wouldn't be long -- that there never was hope for her in such a late stage.Do your homework to seek the best medical care available to you, and stay away from Dr. Paras and Ocala Oncology. Your loved one deserves a chance. My loved one… never got a chance.

Very caring. Takes time with the patient. Shows a genuine concern. Verythorough and very personable. The best experience my husband and I have had witha doctor in many years.
