Dr. Rodger Samuel Agre, MD

As a former patient as well as a mental health provider, I can attest to the fact that Dr. Agre is a good doctor as well as a compassionate human being. I would recommend him without reservation.

At a very vulnerable stage, I told Dr. Agre I had been the victim of vicious bullying then and earlier in my life. He told me he was not going to listen to my experiences and that I no doubt had a need to get beat up. That I the type of man Dr. Agre is. He is a total incompetent. Go to a real psychiatrist who cares.

Dr. Agre is a charlatan. When I saw him for a severe anxiety disorder, he prescribed the anti-psychotics, Thorazin and Stelazin. This, for anxiety and depression! I was not psychotic and showed no signs of delusional ideation. If he had known a little about what he was supposed to know, he would of prescribed a minor tranquilizer like Valium. At least that would have eased my continuous racing heart and hyperventilation. Although I could not leave my home because of the severe anxiety attacks I had, Dr. Agre's "cure" was for me to get a job (I guess so I could pay his high rates!). Obviously, Dr. Agre had no idea how to approach my illness and help me, which he should of admitted at the time, rather than torturing me with the absolutely wrong medication and totally ineffectual "talk" therapy--which was exactly that--talk with no direction or efficacy. Dr. Agre made my condition a lot worse rather than better. He really should not have had a psychiatric degree. I would like to… recommend to him that he try the anti-psychotics himself; perhaps they would lessen his delusions that he was a psychiatrist with professional skills.

Dr Agre is a wonderful doctor & therapist. I have known him for many years & at one time was his patient. He helped me tremendously. I only quit seeing him because my husband & I relocated to another state. I saw him a few times, even, after that. I have consulted with him via phone for advice & he has always been there, willing to help me in any way. I will always appreciate him. He is one in a million as far as I am concerned. Great doctor!!

A special physician

One of the best for medical care. Looking for drugs and a warm cuddle this is the wrong doctor.

Dr. Agre was my doctor when he practiced in Devon, PA. At the time I suffered from panic disorder, which Dr. Agre knew nothing about, but pretended he did. He prescribed the major anti-psychotic tranquillizers Thorazine and Stellazine, even though I exhibited no psychotic thought or behavior, rather than a medication such as valium that might have quelled my out of control anxiety. Furthermore, he insisted, for some reason, that I get a job (perhaps to pay him?) and became noticably irritated because I was unable to do so because of my anxiety attacks. He did not seem to have any idea of how painful and debilitating anxiety attacks can be. When I finally went to another doctor that he had conferred with, I found out that he told this doctor that I remained sick because I did not want to get well!
