I was referred to Dr. T's predecessor by a friend who recommended Dr. V highly because of his compassionate, listening approach to her gynecological issues. When he replaced Dr. V I asked who in the practice was most like him in approach . . . and . . . In the 30+ years I have been his patient, we have had more than a few issues and surgeries to discuss, and I have always found him empathetic, direct, and informative about my available options or the decisions I needed to make about my care. He has been proactive and made suggestions when appropriate for anticipating needs as I've aged. I could only wish that all of the physicians I've seen in the last 50 years had approached their practices with a similar attitude toward the well being of their patients.

We were referred to Dr. Taber by a veteran OB nurse who has years of experience in GR helping with labor and delivery. She gave me a list of four or five names that she has trusted her own family to, based on seeing the doctors in action during crisis situations, and he was at the top of the list. He is always genuine and kind, and lets my 3-year-old daughter listen to the babies' heartbeats during our checkups. (Twins!) I was looking for a calming, caring approach and Dr. Taber has been wonderful.

This doctor is one of the most uncaring I have ever encountered! He was on call over the weekend and refused to treat a bladder infection in an established patient of another doctor in the practice. This patient has been treated for bladder infections in the past by Dr. Taber's partner. She had to call the twice to get a return call. He asked her if she was pregnant and when she said no, he told her to call her primary care doctor instead. This is ridiculous! What if this patient did not have a primary care doc? Seems like he is only interested in dealing with women who are pregnant. The name of the practice is "Grand Rapids Women's Health" and if a bladder infection is not a woman's health issue, what is? I pity women under his care who have not other doctor because apparently he only deal with you if you are expecting a baby.
