Dr. Roger Lewin Jenkins, MD

I write on the fourth anniversary of the death of my remarkable wife, and ten years and four days following her complicated Whipple operation by Dr. Jenkins. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Jenkins for giving my wife and me the happiest six years of our life together, including five years wholly free of cancer symptoms. Apart from his excellence as a surgeon, Dr. Jenkins is kind and compassionate, and gave freely of his time, from our first meeting with him a few days before the surgery and in every subsequent meeting in the following years. He is a gift to his patients and a model for other doctors.

Sometimes skill in a surgeon is overrated to a point.Doctor Jenkins has a unique personality that makes the patient feel like they are his only patient . The kindness he showed me and my family and the time he gave us to explain and answers all our questions no money in the world can buy.All I can say is thank you Doctor Jenkins for being you and given me the opportunity to write this review.If the rating scale went to 10 I would be the first to give you a 10

Dr Jenkins did an excellent complicated Whipple that required a total pancreatic removal for pancreatic cancer that saved my husband's lif and he is now 14 months cancer free. He is a very skilled surgeon and a most compassionate physician. There were absolutely no complications and we look forward to returning in another year for the two year followup.

Dr.Jenkins is extremely knowledgeable and experienced yet makes all procedures and follow up care understandable. He has tremendous bedside manner, and really cares about his patients and their families. He is courteous and spends time with his patients. He has never "rushed us out the door". Dr.Jenkins also does his very best to make sure that if you see more than one doctor at the Lahey, that the appointments can, when possible be made on the same day so you don't have to go back and forth when it can be avoided. My husband has been a patient of his for over a year and we are extremely pleased with him.

Had appointment with a different surgeon for a Whipple procedure. My friend/physician insisted I have a consult with Dr. Jenkins first. I cancelled my other surgeon after meeting with Dr. J. He was so kind, calm and professional, I knew he was the one! Not to be disappointed...I had the surgery, had a 3.5 week stay at Lahey, and returned home. I felt 100% back to normal after 90 days post surgery. I did NOT have pancreatic cancer, but chronic pancreatitis. That was almost 4 years ago now. I unfortunately had a friend diagnosed with pan-can and referred her to Dr. J. She, too, loved him and had him perform her surgery. I hope I never have reason for more surgery, or need to refer a friend to him, but I won't hesitate for a moment should the need arise...

Dr. Jenkins saved my ex-husband's life. After ex-hubby was told by 2 top surgeons that his rectal-cancer metastasis in his liver was inoperable, ex-hubby went to Jenkins who said he could do it. The operation went perfectly, no problems whatsoever! And Jenkins couldn't have been nicer or kinder. If every doctor were like him, it would be a perfect world! He is the absolute best, I have the utmost respect for him.
