The most compassionate and lots of patience

Roger Samawi is a great doctor! He listens to your concerns. I brought a list of health issues I wanted to discuss with him and he happily answered all of them. However, it may take up to three weeks to see him if you schedule an appointment. My only problem is the staff. Okay I try to be understanding alright. I requested a referral from doctor Samawi. I got my x-ray done and blood work done already. I did all I needed to do. So, I call the office up and say I waited one week after my blood work and x-ray was done. Me: "Can you request authorization to get my referral to see a specialist?" Her response: We have not received your blood work, it has gone missing. Your x-ray we'll do it later. Let me tell you I have three stacks of medical papers to get through. I will call you back when I am done. It should be done by today." Well I believed her but no call. I called her the next day and asked, "Can I have my authorization request for specialist now?" She says, well, not today, we are… busy. Don't call in the afternoon, can you call back in the morning? I talked to her like this for 2 weeks. Finally, my last call she says, hey we called you, you never called us back. Me: In my mind, I am really angry. I say: "Hey! I have been talking to you every day for the past two weeks and you have put me off every single time. It doesn't take that long to submit my request right!? Why don't you do the task if a person has the decency to call you, it must be urgent, just do the person who calls you first. Mind you I have waited a long time. So my patience is running out. She finally says okay well for the blood work the doctor has not seen it yet. You have to wait for that. I say: He hasn't seen it yet, it's already been 2 and half weeks. I guess she realized her mistake and let the doctor see it. Then she says well I will submit the request on Monday. It took me almost one whole month just to submit request for authorization. One week later I am allowed to schedule appt to see my referral specialist. The specialist says, we need an x-ray and yours has already past two weeks. Yours is almost two months old, we need a recent two weeks one. That is the policy. Ask your doctor to give you a new x-ray. Wow, now I must do another x-ray and face the same treatment just to get denied another appointment which take another month when she exactly said she needs recent 2 week x-ray??? Imagine my frustration with Doctor Samawi's staff! I never thought his staff was like this. When I went to his office, sometimes I see staff talking to patients on the phone most likely about referrals and the staff give them a hard time. Now I see why. After this whole experience almost three months down the drain, I haven't seen the referral specialist I wanted to see. Doctor Samawi is a nice doctor but this is too much of a hassle, too much time wasted. I have to do the process all over again? I don't want to wait one whole month again!!! I am looking for a new doctor.

A very good Doctor --the best #1

I have been a patient of Dr. Samawi for the past 2 1/2 years. I was always happy with him as my doctor as he always took care of me and my health problems which are complicated. He always went out of his way to fit my appointments in at the times that were convienent to me. One experience I would like to share is when my mom became a his patient. I called and asked for a last minute appointment for my mom. I told them that she was not feeling well, she was giving an antibiotic by her doctor and was not getting better, and her doctor said he could not see her till next week. Dr. Samawi fit us in that day. He took the time and asked the right questions, and when she said I feel short of breath even though I just finished the antibiotics. He said I think it might be your heart. He did an ekg in the office, and ended up sending her to the ER, she was having a heart attack. His quick thinking saved her life, she is very happy with him, so am I. You will be too. He is the best… doctor we ever had.

I became a patient of Dr. Samawi after I listened to one of his lectures at the St. Mary's Senior Center. I have been to a few doctors here and there and never really made a connection to any of them. Dr. Samawi is the first doctor to explain to me in terms that I can understand what is going on with me. He is very compassionate and I never feel rushed. He is very knowledgable, (and handsome too) I can always get an appointment relativly easy, and have been given last minute appointments a few times. His office staff is very effecient, and he is always on time. I have referred my whole family and many friends. I highly recommend Dr. Samawi, you will not be disappointed.
