She doesn’t care about her clients or their well being if she doesn’t get her way or you do something she doesn’t like she will discharge you she traumatized me never again

Does not have compassion towards patients. The patients she sees already have several problems and can have a breakdown at any moment. She pushes them to the edge.

I met with her on two occasions of note at her 6224 Fayetteville Rd office in Durham, first for the consult before starting TMS and another time when I couldn’t sleep after beginning TMS. At the consult, she was uptight, condescending, and when I attempted to lighten the mood with a reference to what I thought was a football rivalry between the two schools she attended, the OSU and Univ. of MI (big rivalry is actually between the OSU and Michigan State), she was dismissive and supplied some purposely obtuse answer. She knew exactly what I was talking about and instead chose to be pretend to be aloof and flippant. She also plays crickets instead of white noise which is just weird and distracting. The second meeting was a quick conversation in the hallway in regards to not being able to sleep through the entire night for two weeks. Since starting TMS, I hadn’t been getting a full night’s rest and was consequently very annoyed and very irritable. I explained to her what was going on… and asked which medications were okay to take. She insisted that none would help me sleep through the night and I should do something like exercise before bed, etc. I deal with chronic pain so I was relaying what I had tried and what would not be appropriate at this time, and she literally walked away like a teenager might walk away when they don’t get their way. I was waiting for her to go back and slam the door, but thankfully, that didn’t happen. Nevertheless, instead of ending the conversation like an adult as I was mid sentence, she decided she no longer wanted to participate in a discussion. And given the fact that she had no idea what I had tried before or about any other health issues outside of mental health questions required for TMS approval, she should have been able to listen while I let her know what I individually had done before trying to make a recommendation. She is very impolite and very unprofessional. I also saw her out in public and simply said “hello” as a courtesy, one which she did not return. And she was in my direct path, coming out as I was going in, so there is no way she did not hear or see me because we almost ran into one another.

I'm proud to have studied psychology and earned my degree. While pursuing my chosen track the classes I had to take covered ethical and unethical behavior as a potential future clinician. I have never met a more offensive, self-imposing, and self-righteous psychiatrist in my life. I found her to be controlling, condescending, and offensive to the point of me leaving mid-TMS treatment due to her behavior. When I relayed what a staff member had said to me she insisted that I fabricated the story. I don't appreciate being called a liar because of a doctor's own issues accepting the truth. It was obvious from the twice repeated attempts on her part to insist that I was making things up that she truly was calling me a liar. She made obvious that I was to accept her version of reality and that she truly believed it, not a sign of stability mind you, as she actually followed me down the hall and to the lobby to continue to berate me. She insisted with aggressive gesticulation, mostly… pointing possessively, that she knew what happened in her office even when she was not present. Lying helpless in a TMS chair is not where you want to be when someone tries to assert her dominance over you because she believes she's an authority figure that she is not. I don't know how she's been allowed to continue practicing "medicine" other than hiding behind a TMS machine. It blows my mind that I announced clearly, "Okay. You just called me a liar. I am leaving." Only to be chased down the hall. I'm still shocked by her behavior as a human being and appalled by her behavior in the capacity of mental health care professional.

Relationships with a psychiatrist are very personal. You can like or dislike basically on personality and your own ability to connect. I find her to be an extremely competent psychiatrist, though maybe not the best at talk therapy. I would certainly recommend her to treat depression

I met Dr. Miah twice, and that was more than enough time for me to realize she needs more help than I. The first meeting began, normally, by her asking me questions until she asked if I had a firearm. I told her I rather not say. She then told me that she's putting yes, as my answer. I said, how dare you put words in my mouth, I then asked, what do you know about me in order to make such an assumption. She said some people would try to harm her if she couldn't help them. For no rational reason, she put me in that category. She knew nothing about me because she told me that she hadn't been over my history because she wouldn't get paid for it until then. After discussing, in detail, about why I took offense and why I thought it was very unprofessional for a so-called professional to act in such an inappropriate way. She never apologized but at least she changed it to what it should've been initially, which was," I refused to answer". It was hard for me to trust her afterward but I was… going to try. I needed and wanted to understand and she then told me, since she changed it, I should leave well enough alone. I tried. My reason for being there was because I wanted to be calmer & less irritable at times so she changed my medication. My second & last visit was a week later. I told her that I didn't like the way the medication made me feel, and like she's done before, she made a fast conclusion while never explaining how she came to it. Her conclusion was to stop giving me any medication and we both agreed for me to seek counseling. Before leaving I let her know that I would never consider harming her because she couldn't help me, I would consider her not competent enough to help me. She, again, became very defensive just like previously when I questioned her character. I knew, then, that she was paranoid and needed more help than I. My advice to any patient who suffers from irrational thinking, please be aware of Dr. Miah, she paranoid, defensive, unprofessional, and irrational. I observed nothing positive about her.

Dr. Miah is excellent at helping you regain your life and supporting you through to Full recovery. Best Dr. EVER!!!!

Never have I seen such a condescending unprofessional psychiatrist in my life. What a waste of time and bad experience I had. I'm not surprised that she's committed HIPAA violations. We are the patients, we pay her money for support, and for some reason she thinks it's the other way around. She needs to have her medical license revoked.

I finally got my son who is 20 and has been diagnosed with depression in the past and periodically struggles with it to see a doctor again. He currently is extremely depressed and even told her he had feelings of not wanting to live. She basically told him he was clueless and did not need medication. She came across as superior and stand offish. I do not recommend this doctor. Read my review and the others and do no trust this doctor with your your child or loved ones diagnosis and care.
