Dr. Ronald Clayton Childs, MD

I was scheduled for cervical spine fusion surgery with Dr. Childs, who I believe is a skilled and knowledgeable surgeon. Unfortunately, my experience with his surgical scheduler, Alexis, was extremely distressing. The day before my surgery, I was anxious and still hadn’t received my surgery time. When she finally called—less than 18 hours before the procedure—I was upset and pleading for help, but she was curt, unhelpful, and repeatedly said it was out of her control. She then canceled my surgery without the doctor’s knowledge or consent, and I only learned of the cancellation through a MyChart text message. The lack of empathy, professionalism, and accountability was deeply upsetting. Although Dr. Childs later reached out to reschedule, I chose to transfer my care elsewhere. Patients deserve staff who communicate with compassion and respect, especially when facing major surgery.

Dr Childs is an excellent orthopedic and is a great listener and explained everything clearly with what’s going on with my lower back. He did my Moms back surgery and a friend of mines. He will be doing mine in the near future. I have completed trust in his experiences and abilities.

I've trusted Dr. Childs with the care of my lower back for the past 14 years and I could not be more satisfied with the results of his work. He's preformed 2 Spinal Fusions and one Discectomy and all three surgeries were successful. The offices are well staffed with knowledgeable people and regardless of their workload I've always felt like I was their only patient. Office visits are on time in a super sterile environment. Working with insurance is seamless and everything is explained in detail. Dr. Childs did not rush the process and after all other methods of relief failed I decided to have the surgery(s). Fusions are major surgeries that caused me a lot of stress and anxiety. Dr. Childs was awesome getting me through the whole process without me losing my mind.

First few experiences with Dr. Childs. I found him very informative and knowledgeable in his area of practice. His bedside mannerism is very impressive impressive. My only regret is having to wait so long to see him. I hope this will change. My condition( to me) is day to day.
