Dr. Ronald William Gerbe, MD

Wendy, one of the office staff, is completely unprofessional. It’s as though she carries a huge chip on her shoulder. I was not surprised at all to read of other reviews mentioning her demeanor. If you can get past her the practice, while very antiquated, has its pros and cons. The doctor himself is old-school, short of actually making a house call. He takes time with his patients, and it’s obvious that he cares and is knowledgeable. I did find the cleanliness of the office a bit questionable, however my medical issue was treated and I was satisfied with the treatment from the doctor himself.

I am very disappointed and disgusted with the overall care and treatment that I received from being a new patient at Dr. Gerbe's office. I saw the reviews about Dr. Gerbe and wanted to be seen by him for repeated headaches that I was having and he did mention that there was a certain type of bacterial infection that was causing the headaches to occur. I did research on the antibiotic that Dr. Gerbe prescribed to me. I later called the office to ask more questions about the antibiotic and one of the office staff name Wendy mentioned that I was scared to take the antibiotic and that Dr. Gerbe's office was not the place for me to be cared for. Wendy also mentioned that because I called to ask questions about the antibiotic that I would not be receiving further treatment with Dr. Gerbe and mailed me a physician-patient termination letter. As a new patient, I was abandoned. Wendy, Dr. Gerbe's office assistant is very unprofessional and a very rude individual and as a result of her… negative behavior, I will never refer a new patient to Dr. Gerbe. Dr. Gerbe and his staff do not have the patience to answer your questions in a timely manner and they treat you like a number and not like a human being that needs medical treatment and attention. I have seen other ENT doctor's and I have never been treated this way. The office staff sent me a bill and then after that sent me the termination letter which I thought was extremely shady. SHAME ON YOU Dr. Gerbe and I pray that you will change your ways and really have a heart to help people and not turn them away once you have billed them for your services.

I have a very unusual kind of sinusitis, and Dr. Gerbe spent a lot of time listening to me, and explaining what he thought was going on, and walking me through my options. My case has been difficult but he has remained optimistic and caring and creative.

I gave Dr. Gerby my trust although I always thought he was a bit eccentric. Sadly, that trust was betrayed. After having surgery for a deviated septum, I later found out that my surgery left me with a hole in my septum which Dr. Gerby never told me about. This can happen with deviated septum surgery but what I can't excuse is not being told about it. I was further shocked to learn that I still have a deviated septum. I have no idea if my condition was helped at all by surgery or made worse. I learned this information by visiting other ENTs after I had left the practice. Sometime after my surgery and while I was still a patient at Dr. Gerby's office, I developed sinusitis and was given some antibiotics that I was having a very adverse reaction to. The only help I could get was from the front desk receptionist who didn't hesitate to give me medical advice although I don't think she has any formal medical training. Dr. Gerby was impossible to speak to personally even though I was in a… panic. It was after this experience that I left the practice and sought out a different ENT. The billing and office records keeping are very antiquated which I overlooked for some time thinking it was just an old fashioned approach but there is really no excuse for the system they use and I think it poses dangers to the patient as well.
