I agree with the worst ratings here. This doctor was the absolute worst I've ever seen in my life. The last thing I needed in the midst of a medical crisis that left me disabled was to have a rude, arrogant doctor get in my face very closely and yell nastily at me so loudly that his spittle hit my face. He told me what I was reporting was impossible and insinuated I was making it up. I had a breakdown (tears) after seeing him. Treating patients like this is totally abnormal. He needs to retire.

I have to agree with others that posted about his bed side manner, rudeness and complete lack of compassion towards people looking for answers. I went to see him several years ago to do "challenge testing". I spent 2 days and over $2,000 only to be told (over the phone days later) by Dr. Simon that "it was all in my head and I needed to see a behavioral psychologist" I was scheduled to see him on the end of day 2 to discuss the challenge testing which he conveniently skipped out on. I made a special trip to SD to see him and he couldn't even bother to show up to our scheduled appointment. When I mentioned a problem with one of the tests administered he offered for me to come back down to SD to do again. NO THANKS! When I was finally diagnosed years later with MCAD I reached out to Dr. Simon and told him about my diagnoses and asked that he not tell patients it's all in their head when he can't find the problem/diagnoses. Of course he never responded. Wouldn't recommend him… unless you have regular run of the mill allergies/asthma.

He is the only doctor in the last 20 years that took time to explain all about my condition, Eosinophilic asthma. He is not just knowledgeable but very caring and listens to you without rushing. He is truly what a real doctor should be. His nurse, Cindy is also excellent and very caring. What a breath of fresh air to be treated by a team of excellence.

Requested to do a teledoc with Dr Simon during this covid scare. Sent a message through the scripps portal with some of the concerns I had with my asthma and chronic bronchitis. I don't think its too much to ask to have my allergy specialist check me out before I go back to work. He replies directly with a snarky response (Why is he asking me, I haven't seen him in 18 months. He went to his primary why does he need me) He obviously made the mistake by responding to me directly, but it shows really how uncaring he really is. He had some other snarky responses but the point is, stay away. I should have let him go awhile ago... After responding to him, I asked him to cancel my teledoc and said I'll have my primary care Doctor continue to care for me. BTW Dr Stacy Lin is AWESOME!! The only reason I reached out to Dr Simon is she mentioned it during our last teledoc visit. He promptly took me off the teledoc, erased his responses and made it so I couldn't send a message through the portal.… Shameful....

Terrible bed side manner and very rude. He kept contradicting me, mocked me for saying that I had developed recent allergies, rudely said that it sounded like a heart condition and mocked the other doctors who I had previously seen. Then he asked me a question about what happens during an asthma attack and responded sarcastically with, "oh I thought you might know the answer but no, you don't." I would urge others not to waste their time and co-pay on seeing this very arrogant and rude doctor who should be ashamed of the way he treats his patients.

He could not have been more rude to my 18 year old daughter. We waited three weeks for the appointment and he told her that her doctor can't read a chart and she shouldn't be there and that after 18 years she wouldn't just "develop" allergies (not true) and said he wouldnt do any tests for her.

Worse doctor appointment ever. Made diagnosis without even speaking with me based solely on assistants interview. Walked in and immediately contradicted other Scripps doctor diagnosis right after a "hello, Im Dr. Simon."

My experience with Dr. Simon was horrible. Clearly I am not alone. I had a very uncomfortable rash and needed help. He did not examine me, he had difficulty making eye contact, his language and mannerisms were patronizing and arrogant, he stated that my behavior was â??not right and bizarre,â?? he had no compassion for my discomfort, and he was incredibly condescending. Simon barely looked at my chart, did not adequately inquire about my symptoms, and came to a conclusion without getting any of my feedback and very little personal information. When I tried to converse about his conclusion, which was empty and hastily stated, then he became annoyed and very defensive. I naively thought this Dr. would try to help or offer some advice, yet the only thing he accomplished was degrading me at an already difficult state. He tried to tell me that everything I was experiencing was due to stress and â??in my head.â?? Simon barely inquired or looked at my records or condition; he never examined… me and seemed uncomfortable making eye contact. He interrogated me when I tried to speak; cutting me off to explain how double blind studies work (which I know being a Statistics Professor). I also am aware of how stress can be the root cause of a lot of physical issues; yet, I donâ??t believe a patient in distress and discomfort should be forced to pay money for irrational ranting and rude behavior from a so-called expert. He presents himself as an allergist, but behaves like a psychiatrist. He also ranted about Sigmund Freudâ??s work -- only convoluting the visit more by discussing a dead cocaine addict who made a career out of dismissing women, among other things. This rant by Simon was completely unproductive, arguably ironic, and most certainly a misuse of my time. As a 25+ year sociology Professor, I am quite familiar with Freudâ??s work. I did not make the appointment to be psycho-analysized and verbally abused â?? which is the ONLY thing Simon accomplished during the visit. Scripps Hospital unfortunately has done virtually nothing to make the situation right; so, I hope this honest feedback minimizes the chance of more people being victimized and taken advantage of by R Simon.

My visit with this guy in which my primary doc referred me to him was a few years back and I'm just now seeing another allergist (one whom I've checked ratings online first!) because my experience with Dr. Simon was horrible, and I'm an RN. Just like the others, he did not examine me, he took me into his office, barely looked at my chart, did not bother to look at the records I brought and came to a conclusion without getting any of my feedback at all. When I spoke against his conclusion, he became annoyed and went on the defensive to which I became defensive as well. This was a waste of both of our precious time apparently. He wanted to tell me everything I was experiencing was due to stress. This man never looked at any of the records I brought, never examined me, glanced at my chart and as one other reviewer said pretty much interrogated me and if I spoke, he cut me off and was very dismissive! Sure, stress can be the root cause to a lot of things but should he get paid the amount… he gets paid to tell all his patients this, and so rudely?! He's supposed to be an allergist, not a psychiatrist anyways! When I went back to my primary doc I told him to never refer anyone to him again. I don't know he listened to me.
