Dr. Ronald Blake Tanaka

I saw Dr Tanaka at Presbyterian, Plano ER on 6-5-2025.I had had a high temperature aching body for several days. He asked to look at my medical reports, as he was confused about my symptoms. When he reviewed my X-ray of my back he saw a shadow on the film on the lower right side of my back.I had had many back surgeries and this film was made after my most recent back surgery in June of 2022. He wanted to find out what the shadow was on the film. The radiologist that read this X-ray when it was made did not mention seeing a shadow on his report. Dr Tanaka ordered numerous studies to be done including MRI, CAT SCAN, X-RAYS, blood tests and a biopsy of the area where he saw the shadow on the X-ray. The biopsy report indicated there was Sepsis and MDRO (multi drug resistant organisms). I had emergency surgery to remove the contents (Sepsis & MDRO) of the mass causing the shadow he saw. I was a patient for 15 days and was given many different cocktails of antibiotics. I developed Diabetes… due to the large amounts of antibiotics I received.. I left the hospital on day 15 with a pick line and continued to have daily visits from nursing care to administer antibiotics. It is now the middle of October, 2025 and I have been off the antibiotics for 2months. I continue to be under doctors care and have blood samples taken to grow cultures to make sure the Sepsis and MDRO do not continue to grow. I had had severe pain and thought it was because of a bad back. I now know it was caused by the mass that was surgically drained. I continue to recover and have little to no pain in my back. I believe and my husband believes I would not be alive today, if I had not been treated by Dr.Tanaka. He told my husband that I would have died within a year and he would not have known the reason of my death had the infection not been found. I believe he saved my life!
