Dr. Rosemary P. Ruggiero, DO

My experience, as a first-time patient is terrible. Made an appointment for the afternoon and waited 3 months, one week before my appointment doctor's office called me and stated they had to move the appointment. The front desk offered me an appointment within the week and only morning hours. I explained that I couldn't make a quick change with my work and come in the morning. Then I was offered the next available after 3 months. Wow. No, thank you. I will not recommend this doctor's office.

Rude, VERY LONG wait times!!! Staff is rude as well. She doesn't listen and very ego-type in the manner in which she speaks. I'd find a better caring person.

They get people in and out of the office very quickly because the doctor only spends 3 minutes of time speaking to people. Dr. Rosemary barely explains anything to patients and schedules alternative hospital appointments without the patients consent or explaining anything.

Upon making appointment the receptionist was asked if Dr accepted MEDICARE assignment. Somewhere along the scheduling it was affirmed that the Dr DID accept MEDICARE ASSIGNMENT. To my SHOCK MEDICARE DID NOT accept a charge submitted by office for $565! WHAT///

I went to Dr. Ruggiero by referral of my Doctor, I was very surprised when I saw how uninterested Dr. Ruggiero was or at least the impression she gave off. I immediately felt tense. I tried to myself relax. Got through the examination. Came back for results, to find I have to have a small procedure. when I got to the hospital, it was.. let’s just say it could use a facelift. When I got into the operating room Dr. Ruggiero was so cold and seemingly uninterested. As everyone scramble around to get me ready, she stood standing over me, waiting to get the procedure over with talking to her med student or newly younger Doctor.. who by the way was very kind and professional. I don’t knw why Dr. Ruggiero is this way she is but it’s unfortunate because she can change the whole experience of a patient, if she had better bedside manner. Looking for a new Doctor. I hope I find a better Doctor.

I went for my regular gyn screening in Feb of 2016. I am on Medicare and have no pre-existing issues. with historically normal exams. I was Just there for a PAP and routine checkup. I was never given an ultrasound on a routine GYN exam?? Weeks later I received a bill from her office, stating according to Medicare guidelines I was not eligible for a screening until 11/2016. Since this provider was a Medicare provider at the time service was issued, it was THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to give me advance notice that I was NOT due for the routine check up. I would have gladly returned at the time the visit was insurance appropriate.This was an oversight of the reception staff..which summoned my concern if their were medical oversights as well??

Read the reviews first and make a decision. There are so many other doctors in Bay Ridge. This one is dangerous to your health. I have never written a review like this.

I was going to her for many years, for routine check-ups. She was always very nice to me, but women with medical issues that I sent to her kept saying they would never not go back. This time I had a real issue and she did not diagnose me correctly. It ended up costing me trips to 2 specialists, untold worry and stress, additional medication and cost, and 6 weeks to treat something that could have been cured in a week. For the first time, I really felt that she blew me off....I won't be going back. Very disappointed. :(

Six months ago I came to Dr. Ruggiero for an exam and was informed afterward that I would need to do a follow-up, as my pap results were abnormal. First of all, I had to make the next appointment six months in advance, because the doctor is in so infrequently -- is she a part-time gynecologist??? Secondly, I did my follow-up and was instructed to call in exactly one week, on a Tuesday, for the results. It was important that I find out by Tuesday if there was a problem, because I would be in the area only until Thursday. So I called on Tuesday morning, and the secretary said she would get back to me after the doctor came in at 1 pm. By 6 I still hadn't heard from her, so I called yet again. This time she said, "Your results are here, she just hasn't looked at them yet. We'll get back to you by the end of the night, or early tomorrow at the latest." I STILL hadn't heard from her by 5 pm on Wednesday, so I called for the third time... only to be told, "Oh, we're closed. You'll… have to call back tomorrow." How inconsiderate can a doctor and her staff be? If there is a problem after all, I'm not going to wait yet another six months to address it -- I'll be finding a new gynecologist ASAP.

I've been a patient of Dr. Rosemary Ruggiero-DeCarlo for the past 10 years. I'm not sure what made me look at this website, but when I did I was appalled at the comments of some of the women. In my 10 years of seeing Dr. Ruggiero she has always been professional and caring. Her staff has also always been caring and very professional. It seems amazing that some of us have good experiences and some of us don't. I think that the people that do not, are the people that let off that bad KARMA. I've sat in Dr. Ruggiero's waiting room also and you can tell by the way some of the women open the door that they are going to be trouble That says volumes. And the wait for her is worth it. So for all you women who want to see a caring and professional Doctor, Rosemary Ruggiero-DeCarlo is the ONE.
