Dr. Rouba Al-Soufe Barakat, MD

Absolutely horrible. Picked Dr. Barakat while pregnant with my daughter because I heard she was a very hands on doctor and "cared" about her patients. Every time I would ask questions (I'm a first time mom, I have a lot) she would always just go around them or talk over you so you can't even ask anymore. Anyway I took my daughter at 3 weeks to Dr. Barakat because my husband found a lump on her ankle. Dr. Barakat told me "It was a cyst" and she was going to refer me to a Pediatric General Surgeon and to call back in a week for a phone number. So I had to wait anxiously for a week. I had to go back there a week afterwards anyways. When I got there I asked the girls in the front and they said they didn't find one yet, I was also told by the male doctor (I forgot his name but he is actually very nice) to wait for the number for the Pediatric General Surgeon they refer me to so the General surgeon will have all my daughter's medical information. While I ended up calling a week later...… Nothing. Than I called a week after that. The girl on the phone said " They were really busy and she would have to call me back".. never received a call. My daughter was 6 weeks at that point. I noticed that this "cyst" that Barakat diagnosed was growing and seemed to be hurting my baby. Since I couldn't relay on her pediatrician I took matters into my own hands and went into the E.R. they automatically gave me referrals. The E.R. doctor seemed concerned which made me more concerned, I was told to make an appointment asap. So I did, Made an appointment with the surgeon one week later and the surgeon said he wanted to do surgery asap because this WASN'T a cyst... So my 7 week old daughter had to have surgery to remove it..It ended up being a TUMOR! We are currently waiting to find out if this tumor was benign or malignant (cancerous). This is something that might be life threatening to my baby and as her doctor that is your job to verify she is okay. If you don't know 100% about something than be honest and find me someone that does know FAST not make a fake diagnoses so you can move on with your day. This is something as serious as cancer. Something that your racing against time to beat. If this is cancer and has spread to other parts of her little body. I blame Dr. Barakat and her staff for not acting in a timely professional urgent manner. I wouldn't refer this doctors office to my very worst enemy. Stay far away from here.
