Dr. Roxie Mae Albrecht, MD

I truly believe this doctor, together with some of the better nurses on staff at that time, saved my son's life while in the OU Medical Center's ICU. He suffered massive internal injuries from an auto accident and it wasn't clear for several days whether he would even survive or not. Since one of his major problems was pulmonary issues, she walked in one day and DEMANDED to know why my son, as severe as his case was, was on one of the older ventilators. She got action quickly and it was immediately replaced with a newer, more sophisticated machine. Even though at OU, since it is a training facility, the physicians aren't that interested in communicating with the family, Dr. Albrecht did from time to time speak with me and did answer my major concerns. Since she was head of the ICU, she was not the physician that always saw my son, but she did oversee his care.
