Dr. Baker began his medical training at the University of Alabama, where he received his medical degree in 1973. He stayed in Birmingham to complete a surgical internship. In 1983, Dr. Baker finished his residency in neurosurgery at Washington University in St. Louis, where he was a fellow in neurosurgery from 1981-1982 and Chief Resident from 1982-83.
