Dr. Roy Dean Loewenstein, MD

We have found that Dr. L's office has one of the most efficient staff's of any professional's in our lifetime. Dr. L is extremely knowledgeable and an excellent MD.

I am a RN. I have had Dr. L for years. At first he was nice and seemed like he cared. I had to fire him due to him only addressing one symptom per visit…even if multiple symptoms are present. Diagnosed me with 2 ailments that I DO NOT/DON’T have. A lot of time and money was wasted on him…not to mention the pain and suffering I had to endure. If you want a PCP that has empathy or compassion…or if you are in ANY pain….DON’T see this man. He failed me as a PCP.

I'm updating my review from 2 stars to 1. I've been seeing Dr. Lowenstein for 7 years. The first 2 years he was an excellent listener and very attentive to my well being. This has tapered off to the point that I'm now aggressively searching for another Internist. He doesn't listen. I find myself repeating myself about conditions/issues he's been aware of since I became his patient. I never know what I'm going to get from one appointment to the next. He can be very accommodating, then the next appointment, hasty and disregarding my concerns, health and well being, appearing insensitive. and not concerned about my individual situation. He doesn't answer questions or explain the reason for decisions he makes that obviously affect my life, other than to say "times have changed". He has flip-flopped on my medications to the point of causing me a lot of stress. He seems to go on attack mode when I'm by myself and/or not feeling well. He's demeaning and says a lot of negative… things. Such as..if evolution was true, I wouldn't even be alive...and I'm a "complicated patient". WTH. I have a rare, genetic, chronic lung disease, and am disabled. He belittles me and talks as if it's my fault. It keeps me awake at night knowing he doesn't care whether I live or die. So far I haven't been able to replace him with a great internist because the ones that come highly recommended to me aren't accepting new patients! I'll keep trying. He even turned his back on me when I came in on an extremely urgent visit with excruciating pain. Told me there was nothing he could do. He wouldn't even help me to temporarily alleviate my pain. Just refused care and sent me to the emergency room, where I finally got pain relief. I have more than one chronic illness. He even had the nerve to call in 1 single pill of an antibiotic, calling me an antibiotic abuser. I feel like he's on a power trip, playing games with my life. I don't abuse antibiotics or any type of drug or mood-altering substance. Ever. Dr. Lowenstein can have a nice demeanor and is a likable person, which has kept me on the hook..not to mention my hopefulness when he gives decent medical care in a general sense. He goes by statistical information rather than focusing on the individual patient needs. I'm writing this review with TOTAL honesty and only to be of use to other patients.
