Dr. Ruel Tyrone Stoessel, MD

My sister was sent to Dr. Stoessel when she was 8 months pregnant for gestational diabetes. Dr. Stoessel and his staff did an ultrasound (of which she had obviously already had several) and told my sister some of the worst news imaginable. He told her and my brother in law that their baby girl was missing a large part of her brain, the Corpus Callosum. He also told her that the baby’s abdomen was extremely large and that this was the #1 cause of stillborn babies. He offered her no comfort, no resources, and no compassion at all. In fact, he even looked at her with disdain when she became upset about the news as if her pain was an inconvenience for him. He sent her home feeling terrified and defeated. After reading reviews online and seeing that Dr. Stoessel makes a habit of misdiagnosing and fear mongering expectant parents, our family insisted they get a second opinion. Every other doctor my sister visited during the 9 months of her pregnancy (including the 2nd opinion), said… everything with the baby was perfectly fine. Thankfully, despite the trauma he put her mother through so late in her pregnancy, my niece was born perfectly fine (other than a glucose issue). The damage this doctor could have caused to both my sister and her pregnancy by absolutely misinforming and traumatizing her is significant to say the least. I would never recommend this office to ANYONE.

Run!!!! By far worst experience. This Dr isn’t even licensed as a high risk physician. You are waiting at least 3 hours in his hot run down office. Most of the times you never get to even see the doctor on his nurse. Also will tell you he does deliveries but later won’t. There are better licensed physicians out there. Go elsewhere.

Dr. Stoessel is an amazing doctor - very knowledgeable. The ultrasound techs are all super sweet. This review is for the PSL office. Appointments (for a simple ultrasound) have been upwards of 3 hours or more. When the office switched locations, I was never notified, and ended up showing up at the old location. Staff are disorganized, location is not overly clean. I cannot recommend this office location to anyone (the Palm Beach office sounds like it is much better).

I LOVE THE STAFF IN THE PALM SPRINGS OFFICE! THEY ARE SO KIND AND UNDERSTANDING. I HAD SO MANY QUESTIONS AND NOT ONCE DID THEY MAKE ME FEEL RUSHED AND I NEVER FELT LIKE I WAS DUMB FOR ASKING ANY PARTICULAR QUESTIONS. THEY ARE VERY KIND AND SWEET FROM MY ARRIVAL TO MY CHECK OUT. THE WAIT TIME IS FAIR CONSIDERING THEY SEE A LOT OF HIGH RISK PATIENTS SO OF COURSE THEY TAKE THEIR TIME, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE.

If they could cut down on wait time that would be great. But then, when it is my turn, i never feel rushed. They really care. I had an abnormal lab and Sheryl called me during the night to make sure i am aware and to get the treatment i needed .... I call this dedication!!!

Excellent provider. He cares about the underserved population that others reject. He is passionate about mother and babies outcome. Yes, the wait may be long, but when it’s your turn, you are not rushed. I find the staff to be thorough. I don’t mind waiting for this excellent service. Very smart NPs. Shout out to Michelle one of the senior NP in the practice ... very thorough!!

Awful experience. Unfriendly office staff, astronomical wait times, rushed ultrasounds, unprofessional and inflexible billing staff, entire office seemed to lack the care and basic compassion that one should expect during a high-risk pregnancy. Don’t waste your time. Find another practice. Very poorly run.

My OB sent me to Stoessel because I was high risk. The office is terribly run. Waited well over an hour for ever visit. They make you sign paperwork that you are responsible for paying the full cost of the visit if you are 15 minutes late and they will cancel your appointment, etc. but they have absolutely no courtesy for you. In all my visits, we never saw Stoessel, only the nurse practitioner. She told us everything was fine at my 20 week scan and we were told not to return for any more. My daughter was born with a severe birth defect and we had their scans and tech notes pulled after her birth. The notes had several abnormalities noted that should have been a red flag for us to come back for more tests! I was furious. Fortunately my daughter’s birth was not traumatic, but it could have been and we were completely unprepared. I tell people to run from this practice and often hear back other terrible stories about them.

I'm 38 years old and pregnant with my 2nd child (therefore I am high risk). I have been seeing Dr. Stoessel since 2/2017. I did have some complications with this pregnancy, the Dr. was very upfront and involved the entire time with all of the information. He is very knowledgeable and I found him to be very caring. I have spent more time with him than my OBGYN who will be delivering my baby. I have come to trust him a great deal, if it were an option I would have him deliver my baby. I am now 38 weeks , so I am at the end of my pregnancy. I am truly going to miss Dr. Stoessel and the staff at the Palm Springs location. Surina S

I would not recommend this Doctor to anyone. I had a terrible experience in the office. Although I did not have high risk pregnancy he made us keep coming back to measure one more thing so he can fill his pocket! They told me it was a girl but I had a boy! waits for forever like 40 minutes minimum so once your are done with your appointment your day is over. Ultra sound technician did not know much, took really long and had to wait for another person come and tell them do it right. I had to change everything from girl to a boy and asked them to pay for re-painting nursery. The manager was extremely rude on the phone and of course rejected!!! Terrible experience! Waste of time and money!!! I was there maybe 4-5 times and only first visit I got to see the Doctor himself after that it was his assistant or nurse practitioner.
